Default RM40T - Hooking It Up

I just got two RM40T's to replace to small front speakers I have. I plugged in the speaker wire from the two old fronts into the top connections on the RM40Ts and I am getting no bass response or even midrange. It appears to be just playing sounds from the tweeters. Now these are the most expensive speakers I have purchased so I hope I am not needing some other type of unit to play them. BTW they are hooked up to a Sony STR-DE597 receiver, in the two front jacks.

figured it out sorry it was plugged into the top when it should be the bottom (not according to the instructions)
