That's a couple minutes of my life I'll never get back.
I hope Charlie credited Walt Jung for the design.Jung published that design back in the early 90's in The Audio Amatuer magazine and it is decent sounding.I have a stuffed board with the 744/811's installed if someone is interested.
Interesting read Jesse. Thanks.

Apparently the guy likes Charlie's pre.......
Of course, if he gets another job...do you have to wait 14 months to get your preamplifier? With only two out there [not identical] guess one would have to be either lucky, or very trusting as to Charlie's design.
It is an interesting article. Charlie has a job right in front of his eyes if it is that good IMO. Just start building the damn things and go from there. Well, he'll have to boost production to make a profit..........![]()
In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence.

long winded but nice read, Thanks
Nice read.......Seems Charlie would have a great side gig going if he wanted to.Just goes to show you what can be done with some know-how,and useing quality parts with a good design. Also shows you how much mark-up is in today's top of the line audio componants......14 g's for that Lamm, shiiiit!!!
good read,,Mark's brain must process faster than mine,, it took me about 7-8 minutes,,,I guess thats what happens when you get old :)
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
I learned a thing or two from Charlie don't you know, you better stay away from Copperhead road.
Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.
That preamp has a lot of holes in it!

I would try one for the right price. I don't know what the right price is... In the end it all comes down to how it sounds for me. This is not the case for everyone. It could be a great design or it could be synergy.

Vinyl, the final frontier...
Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... :D
I saw where the writer was saying that the Lamm gear made the vocals sound "sweeter" and he seemed to like that. Perfectly (and we all know that is impossible) transparent preamps or any gear for that matter is not necessarily what I like in my rig.
