Default How to build speaker stands for bookshelf speakers?

hey guys. SO, I found some cool Polk audio vintange bookshelf speakers in a pawn shop and will have them out of Layway(yeah pawn shops have layaway) in less then a month. They are these speakers:

now I'm not sure, if according to the weight it shows at the bottom if 2 speakers equal 4o lb's or just one speaker is 40 lbs. I was wondering if anyone knew of some inexpensive ways of building speaker stands using PVC pipe or something like that to hold these speakers up, being as heavy as they are. I want to make the stands look decent. I'll probally paint them a basic black eventhough the speakers are wooden looking. Another thing is what could i use to make sure the speakers don't going bouncing off when the base starts rumbling from these things? I had the pawn shop owner hook the speakers to a reciever and they sounded awesome. Really sounded great and in excellent condition. Any links on building these would be cool, and very helpful. Thanks guys.

    Default Something worth checking out

Audio Advisor has some stands on clearance. Maybe as low as buying materials to make your own. Just double check if that's pair pricing and add shipping. Ask them if they'll work with your speakers, the height of 24" looks good.

I don't know...2 feet up for those speakers seems a little high to me. Wouldn't they bee better at maybe 1 foot up or so with about 3 to 5 degrees of tilt towards the listener? I made some stands for my M10B's that were based on the original plans that Ken emailed me and with about 4 degrees of tilt, seem to work very well. Of course, YMMV.

I would also imagine that's 40lbs for the pair shipped because of their size.
