I'd go with Sony LCD too. 2nd and 3rd would be Sharp and Samsung.
Panasonic TC-P50G20 TV
Onkyo TX-SR805 Pre/Pro
Rotel RMB-1075 Amp
B&W CDM1-SE fronts
B&W CDM-CNT center
B&W CDM1 rears
DUAL NHT SubTwo subwoofers
Velodyne SMS-1
Oppo BDP-93 Blu-Ray player
Belkin PF60 Power Center
Harmony One remote
I think you have to go either 40" or 46" in LCD.
SONY XBR series is the best. Samsungs are better than other Sony series.
SONY KDL-46XBR5, KDL-40XBR4, Samsung LNT4065F or LNT4665F for 1080p resolution and
Samsung LNT4042H, LNT4642H, LNT4053H or LNT4653H for 1080i/720p resolution are great. I had spent a month research online and window shopping at bestbuy, circuitcity and J&R. I went with Samsung and I am happy with it for the price. I didn't want to pay Sony for twice the price of Samsung.
Check Fry's or Amazon for better deals.
I would say Sony as well...I have a 46" and it's not even an XBR or 1080p..and i love it..
Thanks for the input, I decided to go with a Toshiba Regza 42" 1080p, with 3 hdmi inputs.

I would go plasma.
I did and really like it. Panasonic 50". To each his own.

I have a 40" Samsung 1080p LCD and a friend has the Sony 40" 1080p. In my opinion there is definately a difference in PQ between the two sets with favor toward the samsung. Playing xbox 360 also seems to be better on the Samsung.
Only thing I don't like about the new models of samsung is that they switched to a glossy screen, so in improper lighting conditions you may see reflections.
My other friend has a 42" Sharp Aquos 1080p and that is an absolutely stunning TV for the price and gives my Sammy a run for its money. If I were you I'd get the Sharp, since you get 2 more inches(42 v. 40) and the quality is outstanding.
sharps are pretty good, they also have a one dead/stuck pixel policy
I have a Sony KDL-46XBR3. IMHO nothing comes close. Not in LCD or Plasma. But, they are spendy. You can get other brands the same size for a lot less money.

Have you considered a DLP rear projection TV? You can get a much larger screen for a much lower price. I am considering purchasing a 57" Mitsubishi 1080P DLP for less than $1500.
If you're looking budget, I have two Westinghouse LCDs and am very happy with the performance per dollar for each.
You can probably get a 1080p 42" Westinghouse for a grand less than the big names. Their picture quality might be slightly less, but not noticeably, and haven't had any issues with either.
Stereo Rig: Hales Revelation 3, Musical Fidelity CD-Pre 24, Forte Model 3 amp, Lexicon RT-10 SACD, MMF-5 w/speedbox, Forte Model 2 Phono Pre, Cardas Crosslink, APC H15, URC MX-950, Lovan Stand
Bedroom: Samsung HPR-4252, Toshiba HD-A2, HK 3480, Signal Cable, AQ speaker cable, Totem Dreamcatchers, SVS PB10-NSD, URC MX-850

+1 for Sony.
You can save some cash by not buying 1080p as depending on the size, you will not notice the difference and to add to that HD tv is in 720p.

That's what I did...and i usually always buy more than I need..but I couldn't justify the extra cost..maybe if I used my tv as a computer monitor..but that was earlier in the year. It may be harder to find 720p LCD's now...I think all the newer ones are gonna be 1080p...plus the sets with the best features and quality will all be 1080p now..
