    Default RD0-194's came in TODAY!!

YAY! They finally made it in! I saw the Fedex truck outside and it looked like he was driving away and since my neighbors don't ever get stuff (like I do), I thought I'd check by the front door. And lo and behold...there was the box! I got them installed already and am listening to some Allison Krauss since I know the newest CD quite well and how those SL2000's sounded on her range of voice. Big difference already and not even thru one song. I can tell once broken in, these will make the world of difference. Well worth the wait to say the least. You can definitely tell that 5dB peak is not there anymore.

The unfortunate part is, I'm only going to be home another hour finishing up some work and I have to drive 6 hours to a promo in Russellville, AR. Sigh. I won't be able to do more listening to them till either very late tomorrow night or Sunday. Well, at least I have Sunday depending on what games are on when plus I don't have to travel next week till Saturday. Perfect time, too since I just installed the redone crossovers on Tuesday night. They will all get to break in together.

    My $200 SDA SRS2's are officially finished. Crossovers....check. Cabinet refinish....check. New RD0-194 tweeters....check!

Congrats, nice surprise!! Once all that new stuff gets broken in and working well together you are going to be in for a treat :)

The Fed Ex truck just pulled up in front of my house and dropped of a pair of RDO-198's. Let your 194 burn in for around 50 hours and you will like them even more.

    GREAT !
Man, I would DIE for a listening session in front of those puppies!

My "free caps" are 6 weeks away.
I told them I wanted audiophile quality caps, and so they are making them much the same as they did for North Creek and Conrad Johnson!

No big deal, I can wait!

B&W 801's and VMPS RM 40's are nice too.

In a audiophile, absolute way, the 801's and RM 40's probably "better" then the SRS's, way more transparent, less colored, a LOT more detail.

But for the music I listen mostly too, I like the SRS 2's better overall.

The RM 40 and the 801 image like champs, not like the SRS 2's of course.
Although the RM 40 can be astounding at times in this regard.
The 801's just disappear, the sound is just "out there" floating in space.

Like I said before, the SRS 2's are becoming my favorite speakers overall.

IMHO, from what I have heard so far, they are a big sounding, powerful and forgiving speaker, that images like no other.

They cannot approach the detail/transparency of the RM 40's or the 801's, and they are a BIT colored.
Nor do they have the top end air like the 801's tweeter does.

But I find them musical as all get out, and really enjoy listening to them.

I TRY and remain objective about speakers, since I own so many of them.

EVERY speaker has it's strengths and weaknesses, ALL are a compromise in one way or another.

The powerful, forgiving, musical nature of the SRS 2's, combined with that spectacular imaging, make a STRONG case for KEEPING them.

They have been hooked up SINCE they arrived, and sound great, even in Stereo since I have a dead 6510.

My RM 40's and 801's, along with my Polk RT 2000P's and the JBL L 7's have sat idle since they arrived.
The 200 lb Von Schweikerts are a project, awaiting new drivers.
They are prototypes, and may never see production.

MEET the New Boss, the SRS 2 !

^^ wait until you get a new driver, new caps, RD0's then run a comparo. If you are already liking them when they are somehwat crippled :D they will really surpride you when they are healthy and running properly. Might actually give those other speakers a run for their money in the detail/transparency dept. :)

    EXACTLY what I expect.
As you know, mine are crippled, but just like a big V8, they still have enough, even running on 6 cylinders.

I LOVE em, nice and BIG, and WIDE too, miss my old Magnepan MG 3A's.
They were wide as well, really filled in my wide room.
And, you may be right about the detail and transparency thing ?

New caps and resistors makes a BIG difference.

I am not a detail and transparency freak, more into musical truth, imaging, and a big sound w/imaging.

Did someone say the new tweeters are here ?

I will order 4 if they are ?

If you can,set your cpd on repeat...set the pre to average volume...and let the RDO's break-in a little will you are gone.
