Default Exotic Wood for your Polks

Who wants to redo the wood on your Polks?

Take a look at this piece of exotic hard wood.

Nice, but I'd rather just buy a sheet of veneer.

Veneer perplexes me. How do you make the edges meet? do you cut a chamfer?, do you see the base wood then?

I have not tried it but I have heard the best way to join at a seam is to overlap one piece of veneer a 1/4" or so.Then you can trim and sand the overlapped piece until it is flush. If done carefully this will hide the seam.

I'll be reveneering the tops and bottoms on some 2.3's here soon so I'll try to keep a log of what goes on. It's really not bad on veneering and, even with rounded corners, etc, it's relatively easy. Use the wider sheets on top and the trim type on the front edges...unless it's 1" wood. Band-it makes a tool that makes it a little easier to get a connecting edge for veneer but everyone is different on what they like to do. If you've not veneered before, give it a shot. Not too terribly hard. F1 can give some great advice on it as well.

That is some amazing grain. B&W used a similar look on a run of their speakers.
