Default Tweak it . . . till you eff up you system and want to sell it all!

Yeah you heard me . . . ugh. Just finished a long night of studying and decided to listen to some tunes before bed. Little do I know that my system will sound less than perfect. Yesterday, I decided to setup my Adagios properly according to the setup manual. Great! My speakers were placed and sounded excellent. Yet for some reason . . . when I turned them on today, the image was off to the left. The balance on the preamp is correct. When I toss on my HD555 cans the sound is centered. So the issue is somewhere between my preamp output and my speakers. God, has anyone ever had this problem? What could have changed. I'm afraid I may have blown something. I changed my tubes to be sure and the problem persists. Tomorrow after some rest I'm going to pull all my cables off and clean them. Any other suggestions?

. . . nothing worse than your system crappin' out when you want to hear it the most.

I waited about a half hour till I played some music. I've never really had to wait before.

i've had this happen before... and for me anyways.. it wasn't an equipment issue it was that a lazy boy recliner was to close to the right speaker and it was acting like sound deadening foam. i moved the chair which wasn't right in front of the speaker, but off to the side.. and sure enough everything was ok again.

this may not be your same problem.. but this bugged me for the longest time.. i swapped out cables, amps, pre amps, speakers, sources, etc.. and finally it came down to room furniture. who would have thought that?

my problem talked about above, really affected the SDA's. other speakers not so much. also, if one of your speakers is farther away from you than the other one. that will lessen the volume of that speaker too. this i find with my SDA's and my RTi's as well.

Welcome to the world of hifi. I can't tell you how many "improvements" I made to my system that sent me the wrong way. I've started over at least 3 times.

Interesting . . . . looking at my room, a bookshelf may be causing the problem. I will report back later after I unload the mass of books and move it to another wall.

Ferris . . . I mean, Dangerboy, you're my hero. It appears that the bookshelf was the issue. I removed it from the room and the soundstage became centered again. These Adagios really are sensitive to everything in the room. Geez, I used to think my old Lsi15s were picky things.
