    Default Sub decision

Hi, my mains, (Genesis Physics 320's) recently had the surrounds give out. With the cost of having them repaired and their size I decided (with some help from my wife) to buy new mains in a smaller package to gain some more floor space in the living room. I replaced them with Polk monitor 50's. Bought new surround foams and will try to repair the 320's my self at my leisure. Although satisfied with the Mon. 50's performance, they just do not cut it on the bottom end. So I am shopping for a sub and looking for thoughts on these. Polk PSW125 I can pick up for $330, PSW505 $340, Polk PSW404 $265. Acoustech H100 $280, Velodyne VRP 1000 $260 and last but not least Velodyne VRP1200 $360. These are all in my price range, but again because of the wife and new son I of course want the best performer at the best price. Unfortunatly in my area all of these are not available to listen to. So your suggestions and view points are much appreciated. This is my music and HT system.
Dennon AVR200 Pro Logic (some point upgrade to at least Dolby Dig.)
    Infinity Video 1 center
    The Polk Mon. 50 mains
    Polk M3II for rears
About 2200 cubic feet of an odd shaped room, (somewhat of an "L")
    Thanks in advance

You could also look into SVS and HSU sub.
Most HT forums recommended those subwoofers. There are many good reviews about those. Try google it.
    Also check Elemental Designs too.

I have looked at the HSU and SVS and I just don't think I want to up my budget any more, and have not found any in my price range. I started out looking at the Polk PSW10 and Velodyne VX10 in the $150 price range and decided I would not be happy with those and up'd my budget 3 times now as I keep researching. Have never heard of the Elemental Designs but they do look like they need a second look.
    Thanks

Go Elemental Designs since you dont want to up the budget for the SVS. ED is pretty popular and they make a great bang for the buck sub, allot of praises over at AVS. The A2-300 should put the bass in ya face.

A used Hsu STF-2 or SVS PB10/12 is definitely in your price range. Don't settle for anything less. If so, you'll eventually regret purchasing a crappy subwoofer.

I wouldn't say Elemental Design is a crappy subwoofer. It you can deal with the finish, it stands up there with the rest of them.

Thanks all for your input. Doesn't anyone have any comments on the subs I listed. Or to re phrase that is the STF2 really $50 better than a PSW505 or $110 better than a PSW404 or Acoustech H100? What about a STF1 is it worth considering, or in your opinions would the 8" be to small for my size room? I am a little leery of buying used unless it is from a local shop that I can always see and hear first and deal face to face if there are any problems. The A2-300 is going for the same price as the STF2 and they are still a little too new in the game for me with = pricing.

To add another twist on my quest, I have found a Martin Logan Dynamo demo at a local established dealer for $399 stretching my buget even more:( , but it sounds like too good a deal to pass. Oh how I love audio shopping Any comments?

Get the Dynamo if you're leery about buying used. Otherwise, get an STF-2.
