Polk C500.1 remote bass control

Ordered and received the Polk RC-1 for my C500.1. Instruction manual for the amp says to set the gain on the amp to max when using this remote. Am I missing something here but wouldn't it be safer/wiser to set your amp at max safe gain so that you are not accidentally exceeding this when adjusting at the remote? I would think so unless there is something else going on with the remote gain that Im not aware.

If you are accident prone, then don't set it on max.

Trust the engineers at Polk. They went to school for a long time to learn how to write manuals. I feel pretty confident theyre telling you right. ;)

Setting the gains first on the amp is what I have typically read on all the different amp manuals that I have owned. I always went above this as I like to have some extra room to adjust when it comes recordings with low bass output.

Thanks all. I went on the safe side and set my max desired on the amp and left a little overhead as stated in the quote above.
