    Default Any Enya fans?

So - do we have any Enya fans here?

I personally find her music very relaxing to listen to after a hectic day. Plus the quality of her recordings is very good, due to the lack of dynamic compression/clipping that is present in most modern-day music.

Yup, I like Enya (even though I don't have any CDs). Are there any DVD-A 5.1 recordings I wonder? I really should buy some of her stuff. In fact, I like all of the neo-celtic Irish stuff: it's a surprising mixture of Irish culture and pop culture IMHO.

She doesn't have any DVD-A discs that I'm aware of, but she does have a great DVD, "Enya: The Video Collection." The only thing is that DVD is very hard to find.

Yup, really good background music for doing almost anything. I even find it helps me concentrate when studying.

I originally liked Enya when it first hit, but then it just seemed to sound all the same. I agree that it's great background music. Same thing with the Cranberries, great when it first hit, then I found that there was only so much of that Irish cracking of the voice I could take. I like them both in small doses though. The Celctic Women CD's/DVD's are great!

Hmm, I can listen to Enya for long periods of time and not get tired of it. Usually I have all of her CDs loaded into my changer, as background music for doing work around the house/studying/writing papers, etc.

I like Enya but LOVE Loreena Mckennitt.... Book of Secrets, The Visit, and the Mask and the Mirror are all phenomenal.

    Is Loreena Mckennitt on SACD?

The Irish music has a away of making you feel your in another place and time.

Everytime I hear music like that, I think of Rob Roy or Braveheart or LOTR.

It like Godsmacks acoustic SACD: The Otherside... Thats make me think of Egypt , like The Mummy, 300, Gladiator or just Roman times... so wierd.

    I feel the same.

Enya's last track on her Amarantine CD is sung in Loxian, a made-up/fantasy based language that is representative of beings far far away in another place and time, looking at the world from afar.

It's a very mystical language and takes me away.

Before I read the article I had the feeling this would be the case, since a few songs from LOTR such as "May It Be" were oh so similar.

if you're a fan of Enya, and to a lesser extent Sarah Brightman, you should check out the Icelandic band Sigur Ros.

    Default Good stuff......

Y'all pipe down, you are talking too loud. I'm listening to her now. Ahhhhhhhhh.

You could say I'm an Enya fan, I have ALL her CD's.

Lately though, I'm hooked on Celtic Women, some great Enya style music, very relaxing with some beautiful vocals. I'm listening to this right now...
