You would likely have a better chance of getting the nuclear triggers through our customs than the dvr thingy.

What is the best way to send them, what hurdler's will I see?
Lots of way to send to Canada. UPS/Fedex/USPS/others.
I believe you will need to fill in a customs declaration form which basically states the value of the package and what it is. It's not terribly long or complicated but I've never shipped something from the US to Canada. ;)

If you're sending to Canada and Mexico and it's a electronic item, it's duty free if it's made in the USA. You may need to verify what documentation is required though.

Pitfalls of sending via UPS/FedEx, USPS, etc...

UPS and FedEx will charge brokerage fees depending on the level of service.
    e.g.
    http://www.ups.com/content/ca/en/shi...clearance.html

This isn't an issue for you but an unsuspecting customer may be find an extra cost that neither of you anticipated. If you ship ups worldwide express/saver, the brokerage fees are included in the costs.

Shipping by USPS is the cheapest. USPS hands off the package to Canada Post and they will do the brokerage if they decide it's worthwhile. The cost is $5 + any duties + provincial and GST. The issue with USPS is that typically, no tracking is provided once it's handed off to Canada Post and it's also the slowest. USPS can provide tracking but I think the cost is almost the same as UPS and Fedex.

Others: There are other courier companies but I don't know what the pitfalls are with them.

This is about as much as I know. You may want to ask your customer how he wants it shipped and warn him about the potential extra costs. Then, let him decide.

    Hope it helps.

I shipped a Jolida CDP to Mexico; had it on Audiogon and this guy from Mx wanted it. Initially I did not want to do it thinking it would be a hassle, but couldn't have been easier. Used my fedex account and did everything on line as usual; you just need to print an additional form (the customs declaration), and that's it.
Of course if the item is subject to duties at the border the buyer will have to pay for them, but buyers know it. You need to find the carrier that makes it easier/cheaper, and find out how much duties are to have a total cost upfront.

Well ok wish to be able to sell some in these places, the fact I support C-Band has them interested. I know USPS has a "Flat Rate" shipping box which I used before, the rate is $8.95 states, but I remember $39.95 International. Could it be that easy USPS would print the needed forms out when I state International?

I have purchased TONS of items from the USA shipped via USPS and receive tracking numbers. I track it though the USPS web site and when it enters Canada through Canada Post. This is something that some sellers say it cannot be done through USPS. YES IT CAN, it may depend on the class of service. The same is true for going the other way as well.

I am not sure what it is called Steve, but tracking is available. I have had folks in the USA say that tracking is NOT possible at all via USPS and therefore they have to ship FedEx or UPS. NOT TRUE.

Well with Priority Mail I can get the tracking #, which is ok but USPS tracking is poor vs. something from FedEx or UPS IMHO

Well I have a piece of gear that will be shipped out of the USA via USPS next week. I will watch the tracking through the USA and into Canada and see what it is like.

    Got C-Band Mike?

You could buy a "4DTVBB" for yourself and watch to tracking to your house ;)

BTW what is the AC power up there 120v 60hz and does it look like ours AC outlets. I thinking if I do this for International I would need to supply a unusually configurable AC power pack which would work 90v -264vac 50hz or 60hz.

C-Band, KU and KA fill the Canadian North in non terrestrial areas. We are terrestrial in Yellowknife with fibre connection all the way to the south. 10 Mbps downloads and 512 kbps uploads

Same power throughout NA. Not Europe.

Ok, I have just sent a package to the USA through Canada Post. I supplied the receiver in the USA with the tracking #. I tracked the parcel trough Canada Post until it reached the point of the border. After that, I tracked the parcel through USPS. USPS confirmed delivery. End to End.

I have 3 parcels coming from the USA and I have tracking numbers for all 3. All are showing up on the USPS web site. As well they are showing that they have been accepted at an USPS outlet on the Canada Post web site. The moment they enter Canada, the tracking will be continue through Canada Post until delivery. Again, end to end.

PS- It's is going to be a fun month.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned already, but it helps if you have the other party's phone number if you're sending out packages internationally. Otherwise you could just use your own if you don't have theirs.

You may need FCC and FDA declaration papers. It can help to get the electronics through customs faster. Most people disregard them though, and just go with the commercial invoice with harmonized codes and location of manufacture for each product shipped.

try to use Fedex or UPS i know is more expensive but if you use USPS the USPS company just work on the US, once the package is in mexico, the company wich move the package is Mexican postal service, and mexican postal service just sucks, always gets late, and 50% of the time the item got lost.

use FEDEX or UPS, ors USPS inside the states, and the "Estafeta" for inside mexico, you just need a guy who cross the border with the items.

you wont spend more than 10 DLS per item inside mexico, and it will be ther in 2 labor days

if you can not use "estafeta" use "DHL"
