Default Need suggestions for subwoofer to match my Rti8's

I have a pair of Rti8's, Csi5, and am still undecided on rti6 vs fxi for surround. I was hoping for advice on which sub to get. I hope prices are ok to mention but I can get the psw404 for $250, which is much cheaper than some places. But I've also been told I don't need a polk sub to match the rest of the system. I don't want to spend more than $250-300. Is the psw404 the best for this price range? Thanks.

Edit: I read on another post about HSU and SVS subwoofers. I can't find them for sale through online retailers. Is it only sold through manufacterer directly? Thanks.

the 404 is a very good sub for the price, you can also look at the psw 125 if you stay with polk. The psw 125 is a 12 inch sub with sound quality in mind, nice look and it is very powerful.

If you go with hsu, you need to buy it online. A stf-1 or a stf-2 if you want to have the 10 inch version.

if you are on a budget, I like the sound of the velodyne vx-10 sub. No look, but fast and accurate bass.

I highly recommend the HSU STF-2. Goes down to 25Hz and is very tweakable to get the best out of your system. I'm using it with RTi10's

I wish I could find online retailers that sold the HSU STF-2. HSU office is in California so I'd be paying $30 shipping and another $30 for tax so I'd end up paying over $400. My budget is around $300. I guess psw404 it is.

Forget about the 404. Either save up for a Hsu STF-2 or buy a used one like this:

Excellent sub for Music . . . Martin Logan Grotto.

Most anyone will tell you that closed ported subs are best for music.

And yes . . . completely affiliated. I am selling my sub to finance my new cd player. It's a sad day, but needs to be done.
