    Default RTi to LSi?

    Hey guys,
New to the forum, but not to polk. I'm in a bit of a dilemma.

I currently have two RTi4s up front (left and right channel) and a CSi3 as my center with a PSW10 as my sub powered by a Denon AVR-486. Im in a smaller room in my house.

Anyways, when I orginally bought the RTis, I wanted the LSis but did not have the money at that point. But now I have saved up enough to get some LSi7s for the front. Maybe 9s if I can weight a week or two :).

Wondering what your guys thoughts were on running LSi 7s or 9s with a CSi3 until I can get a LSiC, then using my RTi4s as rear speakers. I use my system for 50% movies/Xbox 360, and the other 50% music. Any thoughts or advice you have would be helpful. Sorry if this is a newbish question :)

Welcome. One step at a time. I move from the RTi series to LSi and never looked back. Over time you will have changed everything and a fine move at that IMHO. Good luck.

PS - Do a search here on powering the LSi's.

Do a search on this and you will find all the info on here you will need. It has been gone over many times. The 7's will work good with you Denon. The 9's might be alittle much. I ran 7's with a sub before I got my 9's and they sounded great for music and movies. As far as the csi-3 sounds, you'll get 100 opinions on that, but unless you have the money to do it all at once it really dosen't matter. You have to start some place and the bank is only so full.

Thanks guys, I think ill just do some research so I dont beat a dead horse lol.

But ya I believe I will pry go with the 7s and just use the extra money left over (isntead of goin to the 9s) towards a LSiC. So I wont have the Ring-Dome-Ring tweeter thing goin on.

That sounds like the most prudent approach.

Your avr should be able to handle 3 LSi speakers, but they are 4-ohm so don't be surprised if your receiver runs out of steam at higher volumes. You should plan to add at least a 3-channel amp down the road. I have a B&K 1430 that can be found for $350 - $400, there are many other options as well to suit your needs.

The 7s and LSiC will be a great start. let me know if you find a good deal on any LSi7s, I've been looking for an ebony pair on the cheap for a while now.
