    Default Subwoofer hookup RM6750

I have an Onkyo TX-SR505 7.1 and I am very new to all of this audio stuff.

I have read some other posts, but I'm looking for very basic instructions on how to hook up my subwoofer.

I have put the left and right front speakers into the subwoofer and out of the subwoofer into the receiver. Now the subwoofer has red/white RCA inputs and the Onkyo has a single RCA (orange?) output....what do I do?

    Thanks in advance!

Melissa, run the speaker wire from your receiver front left and right output to the input speaker terminals on the subwoofer. Then run additional speaker wire from the output speaker terminals on the subwoofer to your front left and right speakers.

In the Onkyo setup, you will want to set the front left and right speakers to LARGE. Adjust the gain and crossover on the back of the subwoofer until you get a nice blend. I would start around 100Hz for the crossover, with the gain (volume) halfway.

Welcome to club polk. Russ already pretty much covered it, but you are thinking backwards. Dont start at the speakers and go to the reciever. Start at the reciver and go to the speakers....

Left and right out of the reciever to left and right in to the subwoofer.
left and right out of the subwoofer to left and right front speaker.

Make sure you always connect red to red and black to black. Dont let any stray wires touch the other color.

In your reciever you will set your front speakers to large and your sub to none. all your sub and speaker connections will use speaker cable at this point. You will not use an RCA cable for this type of setup.

If any of this doesn't make sense or you have any more questions - just ask.
