Weird...thats a Pro type driver in a consumer speaker ? Saw this

" I spoke to a person at CV and they said these were a “special edition” (as it says on the grill plates) and have a the woofer designed after the “earthquake woofer” with the pleated surrounds, large magnet and higher power handling, upgraded crossovers, different mids and is supposed to have an elliptical HF driver that is different although mine looks like a standard D-9 "

I had many Cerwin Vegas as a teenager.....for AC/DC, Scorpions, etc they were great as long as you toned down that horn tweeter....they were brutal on the ears. Memories.....

Not to be negative..............but I have never found anything remotely redeeming in a Cerwin Vega speaker.

I used to own a set of D-7's. Did not like the D-9's as much (to bass heavy with that 15" driver. Just overpowered everything else) D-9's are 101db efficient though so you will rarely lose any volume wars you have with your neighbors.

I had my D-7's when I was in college and really liked them at the time. Great party speaker and worked well for the rock music that we liked to listen to. Not much in terms of accuracy, but it was fun to listen to.

About that horn tweeter - invite 50-100 of your closest friends over for a party and it tones down the horn pretty well from the other side of the room... :)

I would at least give them a listen.

    Good garage speakers

Game room, bathroom, or a room no one ever sees type speakers

Definitely shouldnt be a speaker a system is built around, IMO
