If you like HD graphics, hook the PC up to your TV. I use a 26" TV right now and it looks very nice.

Nentendo looking graphics? Ha, PC graphics will always be better than a console's- that's what you're buying when you shell out as much dough as you need for a gaming pc.

Guild wars has far less grinding than WoW does. It's certainly worth the price and no monthly fees makes it very nice.

    That's pretty much it.

If you were a single guy without kids I would still be urging you to do something else than play WoW. With kids it's even worse because they'll start battling with you to be able to play when you want them to do something else.

I'm not saying people can't pull it off. 9 Million people play that game. When I came back I joined up with some old friends and we raided (where you get the armor/weapons from) 3 nights a week, which made it managable. However, gear and weapons in game have repair costs associated with them and that means you have to "farm" (read: waste time mindlessly killing crap, which equals sheer boredom that feels like work) for money and materials in order to make potions and stuff. It easily turns 3 nights a week into around 5.

If you don't devote that kind of time to the game you end up falling way behind.

I enjoy life so much more when I can leave work at 4:30, go home, and do whatever I want. I don't have to worry about logging on to my second job when I feel like I would rather watch TV or go out for a drink with a buddy.

I see your point. Falling behind, then never staying with the same group because they have past you in level ups. Then end up not spending enough time on it to get a decent distance in the game. A game crackhead's nightmare. Never getting to a point to where you say "ahhh... I've made it, now I can go to bed"

And you say the game never ends? You cant beat it?

After you get to level 70, there's the acquiring of End Game equipment. That alone will take you thousands of hours since you need to do a huge number of very lengthy raids, which require huge groups of people to succeed. Not only do you need to be active nightly to go on these raids, but most of them take huge amounts of time AND you have to complete them at one time. Usually, they're in the vicinity of 4 hours in length.

It's very, very, very time consuming and you need to be part of a big guild otherwise you won't have a sufficient number of people with high enough levels to do be able to do it. To get into an End Game guild, you need to be very active or you'll get the boot.

    It's a vicious cycle. Don't forget the $120 for a year's subscription.

It's a pretty competitive game. The best gear comes from doing raids. Raids require 24 other people including yourself. Depending on your class, you could have 4-5 other people of that 24 competing with you for the gear and weapons that drop. That means you could have to go into these places hundreds of time before you get the gear you want.

Then, by the time you are all decked out an expansion or patch will be released and you'll be back to square 1 with everyone else.

...and no, the game never ends. You can't beat it. The game ends when Blizzard stops releasing expansion packs and content patches for the game. I don't know how old you are, but that could be 10 years of your life down the drain. Then what? Was it worth it?

    Definitely not. :o

Just watched the trailer to Guild Wars (GW for short) , that looks about what I'm looking for. Very interesting game after reading the synopsis.

Is there a LOTR or Dudeons and Dragons online game? Or any other mystical games out there, (that are worth playing)?

This card should be conciderable upgrade from the Geforce 5500 I have now. And its HDCP compliant.

Or would this Biostar OPEN BOX be better?

All PC games since 2001 have surround sound. I've always used analog outs for it though, so I don't know how much I can add.

Pretty much the same experience here too. I played for a year or two focusing on my lvl 60 undead priest. It never really got boring but I just got tired of spending soooo much time on the game. To accomplish anything at that level meant that I had to spend 5 to 12 hours in ONE CHUNK with about 39 other people and as a healer, if I bailed the group was screwed. The countless all nighters and runs until 6am didn't sit well after a while. I don't regret playing and it was a ton of fun, but just be aware of the time commitment after you start to get higher and higher level.

BTW, I played on an amd sempron 2600+ (1.83ghz), 512mb, integrated graphics.... Healing a group of 40 at anywhere between 0.5 to 8fps is tough at times but I got used to it and was actually fairly good (very rarely died from other players).

Grab the Sennheiser 280HDs. They are closed headphones and are driven by weak sound cards very well.

Stay far, far, far away from WoW.....that game consumes your life, breaks marriages, causes you lose friends....and more.....

I ran and designed a persistent world module in Never Winter Nights 1 for over 4 years. I had 3 mirrors around the country. We served over 200000 players in that time. I took in over $10000 in donations to continually beef up the main server (which was in my house). God, I think I know just about every statistic that one could know about D&D after that epic adventure. It was the 2nd module put in the hall of fame by IGN early on.

That game is about as good as it has gotten for D&D so far.

WOW doesn't require a powerful computer to run it. If you want a RPG with nice graphics, Oblivion, although it's not a multi player game.

I played WOW for a while but for me it wasn't worth it. Never had the time it requires to play so I sticked to my FPS and strategy games.

I saw this stuff starting back in EQ and was even thinking back then that even by now there would some serious social things in place by now to treat games addiction seriously. I still believe that in 10 years game addiction clinics will be around as much as AA.

I've seen some serious **** in Wow... seriously crazy people who spend 24 hours a day for a week playing then thing. I don’t even know how they sleep.

Worse thing I ever did was in EQ where I camped an item for 36 hours strait.

My addiction to EQ was worse, we were basically "on call"(other members had phone numbers to call us) when certain things spawned? What server did you play on? I was on Veeshan in FoH when I quit....a member for about a week and couldn't take it anymroe...(you aren't a true EQer if you don't know that guild :D )
