Indeed. That is awesome no matter how many times you've seen it! And that's actually a very nice looking Accord.

I love that ad, but I'd be interested to see how it looked if they had used no CGI. There are either one or two sequences that were done with a computer. The muffler rolling might be it.

I remember reading about that ad, or at least a version VERY similar to it, and it said that it was all real, and that the engineers who set it up disassembled a new car to do it.

Of course, that sounds suspicious...but I'd be interested in knowing if it is really all real...

Nearly all of that was actually set up in some kind of loft studio. They used CGI for a bridge sequence either because they didn't have the space to string it all together in once place, or because the physics didn't work.

    http://autorepair.about.com/od/gloss...honda_rube.htm

Finally, a proper presentation of auto parts in all their beauty! It's not too often that auto parts look sexy, but this 2-minute Honda ad highlighting the famous Rube Goldberg's hilarious concepts does the job.

If you've never seen "Cog," it's a 2-minute commercial following the progress of a real Rube Goldberg contraption. It was created in April of 2003. The short video took more than 600 takes before every little step of the machine worked perfectly. True Rube Goldberg followers would never edit a video to fake a perfectly functioning machine. What are you waiting for? Check out the Honda Rube Goldberg Commercial now!

According to Wiki, the muffler sequence was used to stitch two seperate takes together, and additional CGI was used to correct the lighting on the windows.

That's what snopes said. The studio wasn't large enough to hold it all, so it was stitched together at the one minute mark where the "exhaust box" (according to snopes :p) rolls off the right of the screen, and the CGI was used to change the lighting on the car doors.

Exhaust box? Is that where the famous muffler bearing goes?
