I love that ad, but I'd be interested to see how it looked if they had used no CGI. There are either one or two sequences that were done with a computer. The muffler rolling might be it.

I remember reading about that ad, or at least a version VERY similar to it, and it said that it was all real, and that the engineers who set it up disassembled a new car to do it.

Of course, that sounds suspicious...but I'd be interested in knowing if it is really all real...

Nearly all of that was actually set up in some kind of loft studio. They used CGI for a bridge sequence either because they didn't have the space to string it all together in once place, or because the physics didn't work.

According to Wiki, the muffler sequence was used to stitch two seperate takes together, and additional CGI was used to correct the lighting on the windows.

That's what snopes said. The studio wasn't large enough to hold it all, so it was stitched together at the one minute mark where the "exhaust box" (according to snopes :p) rolls off the right of the screen, and the CGI was used to change the lighting on the car doors.
