Default Anyone else irritated at the lack of HD DVD's?

Maybe I'm just impatient, and I know there are a few good titles coming out before Christmas...well, Harry Potter and Bourne Ultimatum anyway. Other than that...not much coming that looks all that great.

Marvel doesn't do HD dvd and I would have like Spiderman and Fantastic 4. I still have not picked up a Blue Ray player which is where all other movies are.

Honestly I hate the fact there are 2 different formats. It's sucks bad. So I also feel what you are feeling. I only own 12 HD DVD movies and look all the time. I see more titles on Blue Ray that I want. I'm going to have to just buy one.

I am in the same boat but have not pulled the trigger on HD or Blu yet. Hopefully an end will come soon. Whe HD-DVD paid off the studios to go HD-DVD only, it was only for an 18 month time period and excluded Spielberg movies. At the end of that time period, HD-DVD's fate will be decided for the most part. We will see what happens.

I think they've come out with some pretty good stuff as of late. I think when I check BB or Netflix, HD-DVD seems to be closing the gap on BR for most titles available. Probably something close to 400 to 500 respectively. Harry Potter, Bourne, Oceans, etc. are all good additions to the format.

I have had some skipping problems with my HD-A2 recently. Not sure if dirty Netflix discs have messed with the laser's ability to read, or if it's going out on me. Need to do some troubleshooting.

Wow, you read my mind, I was actually going to put up some posts saying this exact same thing (although people think I hate HD-DVD, these are just facts). I've been going nuts buying BR media lately, all kinds of GREAT stuff. Rat... Cars... Santa Clause 3 (lol)... Spiderman 1-3... Pirates 3 (soon)... Die Hard 4...

I bought my Toshiba A30 HD-DVD for Transformers and I guess I thought content would follow. It hasnt and I am disappointed, especially since it Xmas. The only media I have purchased is older movies that I failed to see like Chronicles of Riddick and V for vendetta.

My A30 is pretty much just being used for my kids DVD based movies.

The only good news for HD-DVD I see coming out for Xmas is the last Borne movie which I will pick up.

I think its to early to be really disappointed but this isn’t good.

WAAAAAAAAA, best post ever. Definitely fun to decipher but I got it. I think both formats are great, not much coming out on HD DVD but Im hoping both stick around for awhile. I often import HD DVDs so my collection is pretty decent.

No, since I don't own a player capable of either format (nor will I anytime soon)...it doesn't matter.

That's why I bought into Blu. HD-DVD doesn't have much for software support. Most all the good studios are supporting Blu.

The war will probably end pretty soon. IMO Blu-Ray will take it. Just with the PS3 you automatically get a boat load of blu machines out there. Eventually the gamers will take advantage of the movies.

Plenty of movies avail in both format currently 391 HD DVD releases to 431 Blu Ray releases, as far as studio's HD DVD has 41 to Blu Ray 39-All studios are big name(ref http://www.dvdempire.com/Content/Fea...hidef_wars.asp). We have plenty of HD releases and anything you can't find locally you can find in one of the 5 big online stores. For Movies that aren't released in HD, the up conversion is very good and makes the standard DVD's sufficient, as far as software, the easiest thing I've ever done was update the firmware on our 2 HD players. Plug into the net and off you go. Just some info...

I'm not getting anything to do with HD/BluRay,until they settle which format will be THE format. I've already gotten burned with buying dvd player with SACD, NOW the damn format is hardly even being utilized-same thing with DVD-A.

I don't see why people aren't jumping into these new formats. I think both will exist for quite some time. They'll just eventually need to come out with a universal player that will play both formats so I think it will end in a stalemate.

Neither player will be obsolete as they upconvert SD-DVDs so well. So, worst case scenario, the format player you bought loses, so basically you spent $100 - $500 on a really good upconverting player, which is what we've been doing the past 3- 5 years without any complaints.

Yeah, too many big studios have too much money invested into both of them for either to go away anytime soon. If you're waiting for a "winner" you'll be waiting a long time.

I'm not worried about how many titles are available as this was the same thing that happened when DVD came out. I just wish the prices would drop. THAT's going to be what gauges how many I buy as I'll have to really want it for it to cost $30+. Movies just aren't that important to me...I'd rather listen to music, anyway.

I agree, I've said it before, multi-format drives will win :)

By next year you will be able to get one for $200 I bet :)

When drives go multi-format, it really won matter at all what format the movie is released in.

Just like the old DVD burner wars... friggen 10 different formats, they all still exist, but burners support them all so it don’t matter.
