    Default Brothers in Arms SACD

After listening to this SACD for about the 10th time since getting it from my wife for Christmas, all I can say is "wow". I love this album. Great mellow theme to the whole thing, very well recorded, and just makes me feel good after listening to it.

Just thought I'd share that :D

This is one of the all time greats. Even though it pushed the envelope for redbook, SACD takes it up a notch higher. Great album.

I personally think the SACD is better than any previous CD version, although I have yet to get the XRCD version.

This was my first time hearing any version of "Brother in Arms", so I was more than thrilled.

I know, it's crazy. We have a collection of CD's that's almost 15 years old at this point and just haven't really added to the collection in recent years. For the past couple years i've been working on upgrading my gear and have neglected the music -- now it's time to sit back, buy some CD's, and relax and enjoy!

A damn fine recording, IMO. Loved it in all formats since it was released.

You should also check out the 180gm vinyl reissue...while I give the nod to the SACD, the vinyl isn't bad either.

The original CD/vinyl..while very good are seriously outclassed by the new versions.

    Haven't heard the XRCD.

Brothers in Arms is one of my favorite albums. I just picked up their self-title album, the one with "Sultans of Swing", and it's as good as BIA. These guys rock!

I went from the original (DDD) CD to the XRCD to the SACD and the SACD is the best of the lot.

That's the route I took and I concur. SACD is where it's at.

    Just a heads up....

In the US, because Dire Straits is signed to a Warner Music label, the hi-rez version of this album was released on DVD-A as part of a DualDisc (remember those?). Apparently, the DualDisc version of "Brothers in Arms" was pressed in very limited numbers. So much so that the value of the DualDisc to BIA has appreciated considerably.

If you guys come across the DualDisc of BIA, you guys should know what to do ;)
