Hooking Up the Polk Monitor 50s

Hey all,

I'm new to the Polk family and I just received a pair of Polk Monitor 50s and a PSW10 subwoofer for Christmas. I plan to hook them up to a Pioneer VSX-D498 dolby digital receiver.

I'm a little confused because the Monitor 50s have two 5-way binding posts, which is something I've never seen before.

How do I use these binding posts? Do I need to hook up speaker wire to both pairs of binding posts, or only one? And is it really worth using Monster cable -I already have plenty of less expensive speaker wire?

I would appreciate any help you guys can give me - I can't wait to hook up my new speakers!!!

Either set of binding posts will work fine. Just make sure the metal plate, or jumper, is installed between the two sets of posts.

The posts are for bi-wiring or bi-amping, which you have no need for at this time.

And if you don't mind, what about the PSW10 sub? Is it best to use the subwoofer preout jack on the back of my receiver, or do I need to use speaker wire?

IMHO, I'd wire the 50's thru the sub to get the most out of them:D

Use the sub pre-out with an RCA cable. That way the sub will only receive the signal it needs, and it can use it's own amp.
