Vista to Flick to Nero?

I am wanting to down load movies from my dcr hc32(Sony Handycam to my hard drive and burn a dvd that can be played on a dvd player. I am using Vista Ultimate

I have successfully published the movie to my hard drive using Windows Moviemaker. This converted the file to avi.

I then imported the movie to flick and flick converted the movie but Nero doesn't recognize the format.

Is there a better way? Any help would be appreciated.
