Default RTi8s and onkyo 805 help

Well i just got a pair of RTi8s and a CSi3 and my surrounds
are R150s with a onkyo sub.
My AVR is a onkyo 805.
    I'm am more 80% music 20% movies.
I played a couple cds and music dvds not very
    happy with the sound.
I did the auto setup then i started doing
my own adjusting and still not much better.
Bottom line is i don't know what i'm doing
maybe someone has a setup like this and
    can help me out.

What exactly are you unhappy with? What source are you testing?

    Default ?

To start with i think i was expecting way more power
    than my old setup.
    Which was a onkyo 540 with R50s.
Maybe i need to start over with the auto setup
    again.

    Default ?

Well i just dug out my old AR 318s and i must say
    they sound pretty darn good.
More of a full clean sound.
    The RTi8s sound flat.
Maybe i should have gone 2 channel well
i could go way beyond my buget and buy
    some amps.

Set all speakers to small & crossover at 80hz.

    Also calibrate all speakers.

You are utilizing the same amp for biamping, so I doubt it will make a difference.

Start considering separate amplification of at least 200wpc. Keep an eye on Audiogon for the purchase.

Did you run the Audessey calibration program? I have the same receiver and speakers(not the subwoofer or surrounds but a PSW10)and everything sounds. Sounds like you might need to adjust the subwoofer crossover.

    Default 805

Can someone explain to me what the video issues are with the 805? Does it not allow you to pass through 1080p? I'm running from a closet around the corner and need to make sure I have a receiver that I can use one HDMI cord with. The cnet review has this beginner confused!

I'll need speaker help next, but I need to start with the receiver first. I really appreciate it.

The 805 won't pass 1080i natively in HDMI. It pass it as 720p. There is a very long thread about the 805 on the AVSForum.

I have RTi8's with a Sony 5300ES and HSU STF-2 sub receiver and they sing!
The speakers are set to small, I set the crossover to 40 and life is good. I played the other day with the system and set the speakers to large and turned the sub off. WOW I did not think they would go that low. I turned everything back and enjoy. I do need a bigger sub when I get some extra cash.
