Question Your Feedback on New System

After a few months of research & auditioning, I have identified a 2-channel system that seems to have the synergy that appeals to my jazz-listening tastes. Aside from the subjectivity of individual listening preferences, I would really appreciate your comments on anything that I might not have considered when I decided on the separates below. Since I have not opened my wallet yet, I want to be assured that I made the correct choice. Thank you.

    Cambridge Audio 840c CDP
    Rogue Perseus Preamp
    Rotel RB-1080 power amp
    Paradigm Studio 100 v.4 speakers

Well, this is a Polk forum.

Have you given the LSi line a spin?

All great choices. Don't forget to budget for cables...

I do apologize. Since everyone has been so helpful in the past with answering my non-Polk queries, I felt that a "wrap-up" question might not be too overreaching. Thanks.

Looks like a great system. As long as you have demoed this system and feel they are right for you then go for it. For jazz, I personally did not like the Paradigm stuff, only their flagship model. B&W makes an excellent jazz speaker with a laid back character. After owning a pair and demoing a lot of B&W models, I would say that they do jazz the best over any other type of music. My .02.

Haven't a thing in your system, but I'd expect it to be pretty good.

I would love to hear your review on the 840c and the Rogue Perseus, both sound like great products. Not so sure about the Studio 100's, I listened to the signature series and wasn't impressed. Make sure to listen to a lot of speakers before you buy.

Your point is well-taken regarding the B&Ws. They are indeed more laid back & very pleasant especially with sultry vocals & after-midnight jazz. The Paradigms, however, offered more brightness which I liked with more complex instrumentals. The Rogue tube preamp seemed to smooth out some of this brightness, resulting in a nice combination.

Bear in mind that I am definitely a rookie in the realm of hi-end audio. Nevertheless, I am not stranger to good music. I auditioned the CA 840c & the Rotel RCD-1070 side-by-side. Nothing negative to say about either. The Rotel sounded a bit analytical, but not unpleasantly so. The 840c was more musical without sacrificing detail. Along with the Rogue tube preamp, the 840c seemed to make the Paradigms much more musical.

I must admit, however, I was looking for synergy rather than conducting a stand-alone review of any of the separates.
