Default New digital 5.1 Pre/pro suggestions

I'm considering going in the direction of a seperate HT pre-amp to replace my NAD as I believe it may be FUBAR'ed and I don't necessarily want to replace my AVR with a new one that will at some point become obsolete. I am very happy with the NAD performance and sound, particuarly musicality.

Any suggestions on options for a great, dedicated, 5.1 pre/pro at least on par with NAD and worthy of mating with my Anthem amps? I am open to new or used in the $1000-1500 or less range and would like the ability to update as well. Not sure where my budget might fall, but Panamax should cover my claim for replacement of my T-773, which should be at least $1,000. Thx.

I would look for a Rotel RSP-1066 or RSP-1068. I believe Mantis is selling his 1068 in the flea market.

Thanks, glad to be back. I'm looking for basic 5.1 surround. I'm not up on the latest needs in pre/pros. My NAD AVR is not HDMI compatible, but I haven't found that to be a big deal. I plan on using my Anthem pre-amp with pass thru for 2 channel duty, so 2 channel quality isn't my main objective or need. I'd like a future-proof unit (in theory, anyhow.) My room is 3 sided with glass doors behind the couch and hardwood floors and no drapes, just blinds, so I could use something that allows for contouring and honing in the sound.
