Default Hardened material in speaker driver

I have an old set of Model S6 3-way speakers. I was not getting any sound out of the bass speaker, which is passive. The material in the mid-range/bass driver seems to be hardened -- meaning that it does not seem to be reverberating correctly. When I push down on the speaker cone material, it doesn't really move up and down like the material in the bass speaker. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or do I have to replace the whole driver? Thanks, Adam

If you push in on the active woofer in the cabinet, do you feel a scraping or any other sort of stickyness/resistance in the movement of the cone? If so, you do need to replace just that driver, since the passive radiator doesn't have any motor structure or voice coil to melt and lock up the cone. That's most likely what has happened to the MW7000 in the S6. Hopefully this will help you determine what you're looking for.
