Default About to pull the trigger on Outlaw

    Hey all,

After a very disappointing experience with hunting used amps on Audiogon and ebay, I have pretty much just decided to buy a new outlaw either model 7700 or 7200.

I orginally found an adcom 7700 175 wpc for 700 bucks that was never delivered, lost in transit. Then a couple auctions that the price seemed really high...etc. so now almost a month and half later, i still dont have an amp...just decided to go new.

I am a rookie, so any input would be helpful. A. I am spending more on the amp than I originally had planned for my total HT upgrade. (you all are very evil evil people)
    B. I am buying towards the future, I had my last system for 15 years. C. The difference in price between the two amps is only a couple hundred bucks, the higher end model has 7 200 watt balanced channels, the lower cost one is a single ended unit??? whatever that means. for the 300 dollar difference...any reason not to get the higher end one??

I have a Sunfire TGA 7200 that I bought here. That's still even more money but a high end amp, with auto off and a unique cooling system so it doesn't heat up. Nothing wrong with Outlaw but I just don't want any 200lb anything in my rack.

If I were choosing though I would get the 7700 with balanced interconnects. Look at the gallery pictures and the back of each unit and you will see the option to hook it up that way.

If Adcom is what you want, you can get a refurb GFA 7707 for about the same money as the Outlaw 7200. Adcom factory refurbs with warranty are available from onecall.com. This model has unbalanced interconects only and requires a 20-amp breaker for hookup.

Either one of the Outlaws will do the job. If you plan now or in the future to use the balanced connections then get that. If not then get the other one.
