Default Plus(+), Minus(-) on different sides?

I was just installing my new banana plugs and i noticed....behind all of my speakers (Rti8, Rti4, CsiA6) the black plastic thingies are on the left and the red plastic thingies on the right....except for one. The rear left Rti4 has them set the opposite way.

So i have a question...is this normal, does it affect anything? I think (but i might be wrong) that they should all be the same, right?

Does this means that i'm "cross-wired" on this speaker? Should i switch them up?

    Thanks!

Is this because the xover plate with the + connections are upside down?

I'm not sure what you mean.

I checked and the + sign (engraved on the steal thingie) is below the RED plastic thingies for all of them, except on the left Rti4, for that one it's under the BLACK. Is it possible they screwed up on that one speaker and put the plastic on the wrong side?

EDIT: When i ran the setup from my AVR, it did give me a warning that one of the rears (probably that one) was out of phase).

It is possible. If the receiver tells you that one speaker is out of phase, swap the wires for it only and carry on.

An out of phase loudspeaker won't hurt anything. The binding post issue is probably just a fluke and wasn't picked up by Polk QC.

I guess it won't hurt anything, cause the speaker seems to work fine. I switched the red and black posts and reran the AVR setup....no more "out of phase" message.

I also just noticed it sets the center channel a bit lower than the fronts....no wonder i couldn't hear too well out of it.

    Cheers!

You can check the actual polarity of the speaker pretty easily. Take a battery (9 volt or 1.5 volt) and connect its leads to the speaker posts. You'll see the woofer cone either "pop out" or "pull in." Check for consistency.

P.S. you can't test tweeters this way.

But it sounds like everything is fixed...
