Policeman beats woman BAD!

Yes, she was drunk. Yes she was uncooperative. Yes, she tried to leave the room.

Only one of the above is unlawful and she was already in custody when the beating occurred. Basically a male police officer tried to keep this woman from leaving the intake room, she wanted to make a phone call.

The end result got her nose broken, severe swelling of the lip and eyes that were as black and blue as they get. It's all caught on film...........EXCEPT for the beating. The officer blocked the camera with his coat or something and from what we can tell, beat the living **** out of her.

No sound or video is available during the beating and when the sound and video come back, the end result is right before your eyes. Blood all over the floor. The woman lying down apparently dazed and moving real slow. Next, she's getting wheeled off to the hospital.

The officer got fired but is appealing the decision, why? I don't know. No criminal deserves this kind of treatment just for being uncooperative. Not one, let alone a woman. IMO, the cop should rot in jail for a couple of years in the Federal "pound me in the ass" prison. He should NEVER be allowed to represent the police force again.

I know we don't have all of the facts, but come the F*(K on. Common sense tells you what happened. I'm quite sure a judge with all of the facts and the full recording would agree.

Yeah, I saw this. This is one cop I will not stand up for. That woman did not get bruises like that form falling down. In fact, only 90 year olds with failing livers get bruises like that from a basic fall. He should have just handcuffed her to the wall and left the room to cool off.

I won't take sides on this incident but it looks like that was caused by the bleeding from the fractured nose. She did not have swelling anywhere other than in her nose which may have been caused by the officer slamming her against the wall.

Not saying one way or another, but there is hardly enough of ANYTHING here other this lady being a C U Next Tuesday and then video of her smashed up face and getting wheeled out by the paramedics. I am in Law Enforcement, and obviously it is hard to judge what happened here without all the available facts.

That being said, holy SMOKES. It looks REALLY bad from our limited perspective. It does LOOK like he may have covered the camera with something and then let her have it. He was already "handling" her pretty good.

Admistratively, the officer is screwed. Among other things, this is a PR nightmare, and no admistration worth its salt would let this guy keep working.

Judicially, it will be up to a jury of twelve, if the officer lets it go that far. They should see all the tape (with audio), and will have the necessary info to make a judgement.

Coming from the legal profession, videos like this really make me angry. Most cops are extraordinary people. Like a few bad lawyers . . . a few bad cops can ruin what should be a truly honorable profession.

I looked closer at the video. When she falls, the officer was turning her away from the wall after cuffing her and she resisted when she pulled away. At 42 seconds, watch her right foot. Stocking feet, resisting, and she had no traction. The foot came out from under her, and she went down on her face. The officer wasn't holding her in a good "escort" hold, and down she went.

At 59 seconds, you can just catch a glimpse that she is already bleeding from the nose.

At 1:00, the screen goes dark as it appears the officer walks in front of the camera.

At 1:07, she is lying face down. The officer then rolls her over.

At 1:10, we see all the blood.

My Take: Notice, folks, we don't have the whole video. This is NOT a true actual time recording. Things do not happen in real time in this video. In addition, there is somebody else controlling the camera, zooming in and out. It does appear the officer walks in front of the camera at one point, but we simply DON'T KNOW if he turns off the camera. Not likely, since someone else is controlling it.

We just don't have the whole video, and without it, we can't completely convict the guy.

Just for the record, I smashed my face into the side of a swimming pool one night trying to swin in the dark (and drunk) and hit the side face first at about 30 knots. My nose was smashed and I bled a ton. Within a few seconds there was a pool of blood on the ground that looked like somebody died there. Later that night both eyes were black as the ace of spades.

I agree that there isnt enough to be seen on the video to say one way or the other but Im going to give the cop the benefit of the doubt for 2 main reasons. You have a drunk thats fighting and trying to get away and she's not wearing shoes and has her hands cuffed behind her. One good fall forward and SMASH!

Listen to the cop thru the whole thing. He never gets mad or out of control. It doesnt make much sense to me that a cop would be calm and cool and then all of a sudden go bezerk and start bashing a woman in the face all in front of a camera and then suddenly become calm and cool again and call for a paramedic. Doesnt seem right to me.

He was controlling the video. When it zooms in and out, it is him doing it.

From what I can tell now, he may have shut off the camera to take her to be booked. The camera in this case was being used to record the breathelyzer test. When she apparently refused to take the test, and was actively resisting, it appears he may have been preparing to leave with her for further processing.

She MAY have further resisted while the camer is off, which likely exacerbated her injuries. The officer then TURNS THE CAMERA BACK ON, and shows exactly what the situation was. That is not the action of someone who is trying to hide something, but that of someone who has just had it "hit the fan" and wants a record of it, even to his own detriment.

While we still don't have the whole video, it is apparent that he did, in fact, turn the camera off for a time. I am just still not sure if he did it with mal-intent.

Before anybody brings it up, the officer has had other complaints of excessice force. I don't know many officers who haven't though. Not that all are angels, but complaints are not uncommon, and are unfounded the VAST majority of the time.

you can't tell what happen when the blood starts flowing. the camera freezes and is blocked.. then suddenly, she's lying on the ground bleeding.. i think the camera was stopped while he beat her up.

If I were a police officer in that situation. i'd ask another officer to be in the room with me.. just for safety sake and as a witness to the whole thing.

I found this link with more information. They have the news broadcast on the right and an article on the left which gives this officer's background. It's still unclear as to a lot of the facts. That said, two broken teeth, a broken nose and she was already bleeding within a minute of the video and that's when the camera went off?

Call me lucky or call me hard headed, but I have slammed into the side of a van face first, concrete face first [both cycling accidents], brick walls face first [dodgeball :D and don't ask....] and even licked a soccer pole at full speed and never came out looking anywhere NEAR what this woman looked like, never lost a tooth [let alone two], and never broke a nose.

Now, given my experience with the sport of face demolition I do believe she had a "little bit" of help on the way to the wall or floor. There is another tape that was rolling across the hallway from where this took place that apparently shows nothing of concern on video but does have a loud "thump" on audio. This tape is still in police custody and might shed some light on the entire incident.

I'm wonder what between her already in handcuff in police custody and her being beatin within an inch of her life while the officer was the one who censored out the video did you need to see. ^^^ I agree. I'm an expert at receiving head injuries, and I can only recall one time that I looked that bad, and it was after having my face sewn back on. Help was needed to look that bad if she's normally a healthy person.

The medical reports will be the lynch pin or the acquittal. He should get a trial, and if he's guilty, he should do some hard time. No PC block either. Shower time officer!

The key thing revealed in the video is this, IMO:

You have a 5' 10" , 140 pound woman in her stocking feet.
She is not showing the heighth of co-operation, but she is not, IMO, being "combative".
She is not spitting on the officer, she is not attempting to kick or strike the officer.
IMO, If that's the worst drunk he's ever had to deal with, what a lucky policeman he is.


The officer puts her hands behind her back, and handcuffs her.

At this point, the score is:

The officer is in charge.
He is in control of his prisoner, or should be.
He is RESPONSIBLE for his prisoner, or should be.

I don't think that this police force lost anything by losing this guy.
