    Default Cable Confusion.

    Hello everyone!

    I've got a problem.
I have a TiVo box for DirecTV that has the Yellow/Red/White outputs, an S-Video output, and a coax output.

I'm trying to connect the tivo to my new monitor.
It has VGA, DVI, HDMI(in use for computer) and three holes: Red, blue, and green.
The monitor supports Picture-in-Picture, so i would like to hook my TiVo up to the screen up to the TiVo so i can watch TV while on the computer.
Please advise the cheapest way to go from TiVo to Monitor.

    Thanks ^_^!

P.S I've already sorted out the audio, i just need video.

it looks like this may not be to easy to do, or even possible.

if your TIVO has a yellow RCA output, that is for composite video.. which is the lowest quality of video connection a person could use or want. the RED and WHite are for audio only.

S-Video is one step up from composite. and coax you probably can not use on a monitor.

so then your monitor has three RCA inputs.. those being Red, Blue and Green. Those are for component video.. which it doesnt' sound like your TIVO unit has. If your TiVo unit has those three colored RCA outputs. you are in business., otherwise you may be SOL.
So I'm not sure if can be done. sorry.

Maybe an SVideo to VGA adapter would work for you:

Did you buy or rent the Tivo box? I would get another one if I were you because most of them come with more than just composite and s-video out. You must have gotten one of the first generation ones.

that is odd that your TiVo doesn't have at least component video, or HDMI or DVI
