Selling off my 3 monoblocks and going with Emotiva. I was thinking of their LPA-1. I know it's 125wpc. So I would lose 75wpc. I don't think I am going to miss those watts. It's an affordable solution, as I have been wanting to add ext.amps for my rears, but I don't want 5 monos or 3 monos and one 2ch. Now the only way I would go 5 monos would be 4more outlaws as I like how I can stack them. The reason for the change is that we are planning to have some ventilated builtins done in our HT room and wall mount the plasma. The MA700 are just very,very long. I also like the look of one amp...I'm just not sure which way to go.....

I was sort of doing the same thing and had all kinds of gear. I sold everything and simplified. I couldn't be happier.

Everything looks better(less cluttered). And sounds better.

I also owned some Emo gear and loved it.

When I get to building my home theater I am going straight back to Emo. I loved everything about them. Actually reminded me a lot of my "polk experience" great customer service and exceptional on line help at there forum/lounge.

I owned there LMC-1 pre/pro by the way.

I thought it was one hell of a pre/processor for the price. I had a B&K ref 50 before it. I like the Emo better.

I'm going to pass this info on to my wife so we can discuss it, as we are also in the process of buying furniture for the rest of the house. Coming from a 2bed 1000sq ft to 2100sq ft 4bed takes lots of furniture.

Now, I mentioned that I don't think I will miss the 75ws...Will I ?

I've owned Marantz MA700's and I currently have the LPA-1. The Emo is a better choice, hands down. Better sound quality, better build quality. And the price is ridiculously low right now.

The amp looks taller than 7.75" but it sure is deep, 19"..yikes it may not fit in my cabinet, while we still have it.

I'm sure you know how I feel Willow; your current setup is overkill and you should do what you are suggesting.

There is no such thing as overkill & I wish that term would go away. I would rather have it & not need it, rather than need it & not have it. Especially if you upgrade to harder to drive speakers somewhere down the line.

JF, I personally think that you will miss that extra 75w, but it is your money/rig. Good luck with whatever you do.

It's not overkill, it's an investment for future gear. What if my new speakers are 6-4ohms, I want to be sure I don't have to buy amps again.
