Default How do I find Serial #s, model #, etc.?

I have had a pair of SDA-2s for well over a decade now but the financee wants to upgrade. I'm in the market to sell them but need to find out what series & model I am looking at. I don't have the owner's manual and I didn't see a serial number on the back. I don't have an interconnect cable - will that have a significant impact on selling price?

    Welcome Hooligan,

Before you sell them you should get the interconnect cable and listen again.

It is hard to upgrade from SDA's when they are fully functioning. You have only been hearing half of the sound without the interconnect. You will be amazed.

Not having the interconnect can effect the price. How much depends on the type of interconnect and model SDA2, SDA2B, or SDA2C.

What do your speakers look like? Does it have one or two tweeters? What does the interconnect connector look like?

I believe the crossover has a serial number on it. It's been a while since I removed mine. If you unscrew the Passive radiator you can see the crossover. Just be careful while you do it.

If you can post a pic with and without the grills.

    Welcome Hooligan,

Nice post Joe, but just one tiny correction there is no 2C model designation. Just SDA 2; SDA 2A and SDA 2B.

Hooligan you'd be hard pressed to "upgrade" unless you mean upgrade to something a little less obtrusive and more functional and wife friendly.

Before we talk you out of this upgrade thing, I think we shoud ask if you live nearby;) One can't have too many SDA 2Bs.

Joe's correct about the cable. You can read about it elsewhere on the forum.

You should also check to see that you don't have a malfunction. Check that your cabinets are air tight, the surrounds aren't cat victims, and that none of the drivers have been damaged in handling. You can do this all in one easy test. Gently push in and hold the passive radiator, the big one, and see if the other two speakers move out toward you and stay out until you release the PR.

Listen to the tweeters to see if they sound good. You can also apply a mono source and balance between the two and listen for a loss of highs on one of the speakers. You could have a bad tweeter or a bad crossover. Both can be fixed.

If your fiancee wants a set of Maggies, then count your blessings and go for it. Otherwise, you should consider listening to a proper pair before you throw them overboard.

    Default More info...

    I found this information:

SDA2 L SDA II 10366. I'll post more accurate information ASAP. Thanks for your help.

If any of you guys are in Austin Texas and wanna take a look at them lemme know. These speakers have served me well - even without the interconnect cable. The cabinet has wear and tear and the fabric needs some securing but the rest is tip top.

I'd love to keep them but I just don't have the space/opportunity to give them the ability to rock/and old lady thinks they're an eyesore. If I had a workshop or basement or garage to hide in then they'd definitely be in there.

The new system is a Harman Kardon - I'm pretty happy with it but I haven't been able to put it through the paces yet.

    Welcome to Club Polk.

Just an FYI, to sell anything here you need 25 posts and it must be posted for sale in the Flea Market.
