Thumbs up There Will be Blood.

I didn't find a thread on this movie and I thought it deserved one. It's long and slow paced but it keep me glued to the screen the entire movie, Daniel Day-Lewis's character was amazing. To tell the truth I really wasn't even that interested in watching the movie, I just picked it up so I would have something to watch last night, but boy was I wrong, I'm even considering buying it now. Day-Lewis's performance alone is worthy of a rental. Two Thumbs up

Since you posted about it again, I'll add that I think this movie will become an american classic. Stellar soundtrack that was ignored for an Oscar, and I think Daniel Day deserved the best actor oscar. I liked Old Country for Old Men alot and this movie was at times slow and methodical. But, after a few weeks removed from watching both of them, I think about this movie more than Old Country. I think its just more memorable, and frankly more "significant".

I've seen both and had similar expectations for both. TWBB is much, MUCH better than NCFOM. TWBB is better on so many levels. Every level. And yes, it is much more significant.

Thumbs down There will be time wasted...

Grim...senseless, with no socially redeeming quality whatsoever. But of course that was what they were going for...so I guess they hit their mark.
This film also had the worst soundtrack I've heard in recent history. Annoyingly loud, dis harmonic and often out of sync with the visual element,
    so again, perfect.
    Was it well made? Yes
Was Daniel Day-Lewis' performance Oscar worthy? Yes.
Do I agree that oil barons are slimy greedy merciless bastards? Yes.
Do I wish I could get my two hours of time back? Yes.

Probably one of the worst movies I've seen. One of those that you keep on watching because somebody said it was a great movie....waiting for that great part to come. Well, it didn't.

An interesting characterization, but ultimately went no where and left me with an empty feeling. I don't usually watch movies based on how skillfully they are presented. I need some sort of engagement with the characters. DDL is an amazing actor and kept my interest, I understood him, but couldn't empathize. I know this is what the director was shooting for. What can I say, I just didn't enjoy it. The soundtrack was definitely experimental and edgy. I didn't mind it.

Very sad story in a way and yet a good life lesson.

    I'm finished.......perfect ending.

Great movie. I don't think it fair to compare it directly to NCFOM. They were both great but they were very different movies.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought Daniel Day had some great acting. I would not rank it up there as an all time favorite but in all pretty good.
