Default pictures of my Technics turntable

I was playin' around with my camera tonight and I snapped a couple fun pics of the turntable.

    it's a Technics SL-M1 with a Audio Technica Series V cart and stylus :)

The first picture I took with a 7 second timed exposure and I moved a flashlight around the table during the exposure. kinda cool lighting. ;)

I like those heavy, wood based Technics (SL- M1/MA1/M2), but I don't like the T4P type cartridge design. I know they made some with the standard removable headshell type tonearm, but I've never seen one for sale in the US. Good pics by the way. Looks like you know what your doing, tripod, long exposure, soft lighting, etc.

can the tone arm be replaced with another one to accept standard mount carts?

That did make for a really cool effect. Now you've got me wanting to try it.

Just out of curiosity, what was the camera and lens?

my camera is a Sony DSC-H1 and it's the lens that came with it.. give it a try.. with your camera if it can do timed exposures of at least 5 or more seconds. I had all the lights off in the room during the exposure except the flashlight. :)

the T4P mounting unit does limit the types of carts you can use on it for sure.. but.. there are still some P mount carts made by quite a few makers.. certainly more than I thought.

I don't think it could be replaced easily. At least you have a few choices to upgrade with Grado and Ortofon.
