Default Randy Pausch and the Last Lecture

I think this video (or part of it) was posted a while back but I couldn't find it.....Yes, this video is a really long one (76 minutes), but I think it's well worth it to watch and if you know any of the story of this Professor, you know that it's a great story especially for you with kids, but also for everyone else.

His name is Randy Pausch and he has pancreatic cancer and is currently 2 months past his death date that his doctors gave him last year.

He has just written a book that was released today and I'm going to be picking it up tomorrow and devoting most of my free time to reading through it.

I'm not usually all about reading books much in the first place, especially feel good type of stuff, but I'm in the mood for some different perspective.

I post this to say at a minimum, take an hour and watch the video and if you're feeling so inclined, give the book a read........it's not often you find a teacher that has people from all over the country flying to experience his "Last Lecture."

    Brett:

You beat me to this. I watched some of the video this morning and will be finishing it up tonight. Just the small portion I watched...WOW! This guy really does kick you in the ass and makes you think about truly important things in life. I can't wait to watch the rest.

I already planned on heading to Borders at lunch to pick up the book.

    Thanks for posting!

As soon as I heard this morning that he had died, I thought of posting his lecture on here. The courage he faced his diagnosis is truly humbling and the fun he had in the last years he was given should make all of us stop and think about what is really important in life. Randy Pausch was truly a great man, husband and father. Rest in Peace.

Even though we knew it was coming, I'm still saddened by the news. May you rest in peace Dr. Pausch. May your teachings and legacy be handed down to generations centuries from now.

If you have not seen this video, take the time out to watch it. It's definitely worth it.

One of my CS professors had worked with him on a project. We had to watch that lecture as an assignment. It was well worth the 76 minutes. He never did play in the NFL, but he did practice with the Steelers before he died.

Pancreatic cancer is a terrible thing. Most people die shortly after diagnosis, within weeks. My mother had it and most of the doctors said she had no chance whatsoever. We found only one doctor, a surgeon, who had any hope at all. With his excellent work she beat it and lived a healthy life for another 4 years until getting breast cancer.

Primetime had a special on last night about him. I plan to get the book today. Truly an amazing individual! Not a bad receiver either as he was catching a few passes from Hines Ward.
