Default What should I buy with my free $50?

I got a $50 Amazon.com credit for buying an HD-DVD player, so now I wanna use it. It's the damnest thing -- whenever I don't have any money I can think of a hundred things to buy, but now I'm stumped. I prefer to spend it to subsidize an audio purchase or maybe some kind of consumer electronic device or accessory. I also considered upgrading my wireless router, but my home network is hardwired, so I don't know if there's much of a benefit. I also don't wanna blow the whole thing on CDs or DVDs, and I just bought a Harmony One. Here's the caveat -- the item has to be sold by Amazon.com, LLC. Windows Vista, maybe, now that SP1 is available?

    Any ideas?

You're thinking is all wrong. Put it towards a Rabbit Carcas or the Badonkadonk Land Cruiser!

Why not blow it on media?

Search some music threads here and buy some recommended titles that you might not otherwise. Maybe that DVD box set you've thought about, Band of Brothers, Planet Earth, etc.

You are halfway or better towards a pair of Polk Atrium 45's, R150's, or RC60i In-walls.

You are almost halfway to a Teac TR-670 AM/FM Stereo Tuner with Remote.

There are more than a handful of cheap stereo receivers and cd changers, perfect for a garage or 2nd room rig.

    Cheers,
    Russ

You need to chime in on the "Is Everybody Around DFW Safe" thread. Some people were worried about you. I was not.

Are you talking about Russ? 'Cause I don't know how anybody can be worried about him. There is not enough wind on this Earth to blow that melon off the ground let alone his shoulders. I'll bet you it's pretty buoyant too so floods aren't much of an issue either.
You're just jealous 'cause the voices don't talk to you!

Buying media is kinda like treating yourself to a pack of underwear for Christmas -- they're plentiful and you need them all year round, but they don't make great gifts.

I decided not to wait; not sure I'll get into blu ray any time soon...so I ordered:

    Kind of Blue [SACD] $14.99
    Getz Gilberto [SACD] $13.99
Come Away with Me [Hybrid ... $11.97
    Slowhand [Hybrid SACD] $14.99
Holst: The Planets; St. Pa... $11.99

    $18 for 5 SACD's...not bad.
