HPF question

Hello all, this week I'll be connecting my Onkyo 805 to the Rotel RMB 7700. I have lsi25 fronts, lsi15 rears, lsic center, genesis sides, psw 650 sub. I have the lsic at 80 hz and all others at full range, should I change anything? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for contacting us. We try and recommend that you set all of speakers to
the same 80Hz high pass filter, since you have a separate sub-woofer. We feel
this lowers distortion, improves dynamic range and maximizes power handling
capability.

Thanks for your information regarding the crossover points, demaples!
I finally got my last piece of speaker, LSiC, today. The sound of 7 piece LSi series speakers with my Emotiva 7-channel amp is amazing!
I hope you are enjoying your set of HT system too!
Now, mine really sounds like a home theatre! I hear sounds I have never heard before!
At least, I am very satisfied with my setup now. Amazing!!! :)

are you getting REAL volume out of these? I have an Onkyo 805 AVR, lsi 25 fronts, genesis sides, lsic center, lsi15 rears, psw 650 sub and just hooked up a Rotel RMB 1077 amp since everybody on here said the Onkyo doesn't have enough power for the lsi's. The 1077 is rated at 100wpc at 8ohms and 200 at 4ohms X 7. I have all speakers at 80hz and 4ohms and ran the odessy. I've played with many different settings but still can't get the volume I'm looking for with music. The sound is good, clear, crisp and excellent for surround however I was hoping for ground shaking volume for music like my old antique 100 wpc Kenwood 2 channel that REALLY rocked the house to the point it was ear shattering if I wanted it. And to boot I really don't detect much of a change other than clarity from before the amp and after.

I am definitely not an expert in advising anyone here, but if I had the exact same system as yours which is really fantastic set-up that I almost thought of getting myself at first but backed away, with LSi25 for the fronts and what not, then I would set the crossover to Full-band just as your Oddesey would set it, becuase your LSi25's and LSi15's have built-in amps for the subwoofers, I suspect that it won't drain too much of your external amplifier powers that otherwise would have gone to the mid and high frequencies. I just feel that you are wasting all the goodies in your 25's and 15's, like mid-bass and bass, by setting the HPF's to 80 Hz and thus cutting off the sounds that are really responsible for the "ear shattering" feeling! Trust me; you have the best Polk Audio 7 speaker system one can wish for!!!
But like I just mentioned, your system is the best 7 system, but not really the best 7.1 system. I would add a really powerful subwoofer, or two, if you really want only your subwoofer, or two, to be responsilbe for the sound frequencies below 80 Hz, the way your system is set up now, because I think PSW 650 with less than 600 watts maybe too under-matched to the rest of your "killer" system! I use two Velodyne DLS-5000R subwoofers that are rated 1000 watts RMS and 2000 watts Peak; that is why I went for bookshelf LSi9's for the fronts and rear surrounds. :)
