SRT feet

I just purchaced a SRT theater system and two of the large feet have the threaded part broken, part in the cabinet ( I can unscrew out) and the other half fixed to the large round foot. Polk no longer has replacement feet. Any one out there with extras or ideas on repair. It is threaded on the inside also for the spikes, I could thead a bolt up the interior and use glue to join the two halfs but would loose the ability to use spikes. Jim

I'm pretty sure the threads are 1/4-20 for those loudspeakers. Any spike with those threads will work.

It would be best if the orig feet can be used since they fit into the power port base. Jim

There are times in audio when you have to wing it and find something new. If you have to buy eight, that's the way it goes.

Do you have a picture of the original spike?

Where were you lucky enought to score an SRT system? Congrats on the new setup! :D

The feet are round levelers about 3 1/2" across and 1 1/2" tall that can be raised and lowered by the thread they're on that also fits into the base of the speaker. The spikes fit into the bottom middle of the feet and are approx 1 5/8" long and 5/16" thick and have a heavy thread for about half of their length.

Given Skolla's statement I think he is referring to the threaded metal that goes from the speaker base into the feet. With regards to these they can be locked very tight either all the way in or all the way out. If there's nothing that is obviously broken looking I'd make sure that they aren't just very tightly all the way in or out.

16 or 18 ... but depending on the condition of the feet that may not be the issue unless he wants pull all the feet and replace them with spikes ...

I can't help with the question, but anyone have a photo handy of these mysterious feet? Just curious.

Not without taking them apart ... picture a ribbed hockey puck with an outside threaded goober going out to the speak in one direction and a recepticle fror a threaded spike in the other ...

I was lucky to find this system on Audiogon, but needed freight across to country. The feet probably mere broken when the subs were moved sideways and it snapped off at the speaker. I am thinking of replacing the feet (same ones) between the upper speakers and the subs with thread in cones- Need to be about 1/2" threaded or try to join the two pieces togather by threading up the middle of the two pieces (it has threads on the inside also) or try to remove the broken piece from the foot (it looks fused to the foot) and have a machine shop make a new piece or find someone with these feet and are not using them. Can't wait to fire these up, I'm going to start with no feet. Jim

I have an SRT genie that will get me anything i need for the precious SRT.
I had to refurbish my SRT and i was able to get all the parts i needed including a cracked foot.

Two of the feet the larger threaded part is broken off and one the larger threaded part is bent. Three of the small spikes that thread up in the larger threaded part are broken or stuck in the larger threaded part. Well I fired these up without feet and I have never heard anything like this before! Smooth high end ind flat bass all the way down to what you feel in your feet. No end in how loud they will play. California Audio CD and Preamp and the big Sunfire 2 channel Amp. A little rattle in the bass on Dark Side Of THe Moon start, new woffers on the way, I suspect voice Coil issues. Any way you can help would be muched appreciated, Jim

The rattle will be the spider coming away. Theres quite a bit of info in threads on how to repair that on here.

Well I fired these up without feet and I have never heard anything like this before! Smooth high end ind flat bass all the way down to what you feel in your feet. No end in how loud they will play.

Lots of great listening ahead ... Best of luck resolving the issues with the feet etc ...

The rattling noise has been resolved, the drivers from the subs were removed, on 2 the round fabric behind the driver cone had separated from the metal and on the other 2 pushing in on the driver mad a friction feel and noise. Ordered 4 new drivers from polk, 3 were good and 1 had that same friction problem. Polk sent a new one. All 4 installed and excellent tight bass below 20HZ, unlimited volume in a very large room. Can some of those drivers be repaired, Polk is not in the repair buisness just the replacement buisness, nice to have on hand if the stop making the replacements. Not sure how to get up with ESVINON about replacement feet, that would complete the restoration of these ausome speakers. meanwile my 2.3's sit idle while enjoy these.

I had that same friction problem with bass drivers from RT 3000 sub series.

The sound from these was clearly distorted.

They were forward firing and it was quite obvious.

Polk sent replacements and that cured the problem , then only a loud buzz/ hum noise out of one of them, even with no audio connection, but power on. I suspect a amp problem, have not opened these to check on a fuse but Polk said I could send it in for repair. On my to do list.
