    Default NHT M00 Active Monitors

Has anyone heard these? I'm thinking about trying a pair of active monitors for my computer rig. There's no real reason other than to try something new....but I'm waffling on it.

I haven't heard them, but I like the cut away pic.

I remember these NHT active monitors received very favorable reviews. I think Stereophile even reviewed these (not 100% sure, better double check).

Aren't these active monitors on closeout sale? If the discount is steep enough, better grab them before they are all gone. Don't forget to get the matching sub as well.

Yea, the prices are great. I'm just doing nearfield so a subwoofer isn't needed but I wasn't aware it was available....thanks MM.

Nearfield, even the Berhinger Truth sounded good to me, you know NHT makes good stuff and their self powered monitor is sure to sound good.

I have been looking more at the Adam A7 at 519 a pair, the ribbon tweeter has my interest.

    Edit, frigging 519 each, hummm

I've also looked at the Paradigm Active 20. It's been awhile since I've had one of those in the house.

I think Quad has a couple of powered speakers. I'd love to try the 12L2 as part of my computer rig.

Those things arent going to have hardly any bass being a sealed 4 1/2" monitor. You could look into getting some Swan S200's or M200's or if you wanted to spend a little more I heard the Dynaudio active monitors are excelent.

I picked up a pair of the Quad 11L2.

Meeks - It's not just about the driver size and this is a nearfield setup anyways. I haven't heard a Swan that I've liked and didn't think about Dynaudio but that would've been a nice choice as well.

I'm completely jealous, Doro. I don't think there is a Quad dealer within 300 miles of my house. Enjoy your Quads, and I'm anxiously awating your review of the 11L2.

Since my last post, I've actually managed to hear the NHT stuff. Got a call from a man in charge of a livestock auction who needed some computer help. Guess what he had in his office? Yep, and he had a matching subwoofer. I thought it sounded pretty darn good, even with all the variables involved.

My reviews consist of "they sound good" or "they suck", so don't expect too much. I stopped writing and fretting over reviews ages ago. Where do you live? I bought them online from Underwood Hi-Fi(Authorized).

What are the odds of that happening huh? One of the things that sold me was the fit an finish of the Quad over the NHT. Rosewood(Cherry or Black) with 7 coats of clear, hand rubbed by a small, underpaid individual....in contrast to a industrial type of finish/look from NHT. They also have a built in plinth, so they don't sit flat on the desk I have in here. Russman also mentioned Tannoy but that was after the fact.

LOL! Well, I'm sure you enjoyed my "extensive" review of the NHT. How are you at pictures?

Underwood Hi-Fi? I'm off to see what I can find. Thanks for the tip.

The 11L2's showed up but in the wrong format. I wanted the Active version but thru 100% fault of my own, ordered the standard version.

Upon inspection, the finish(Rosewood) is absolutely stunning and flawless. I only unwrapped one of them since they were about 10 minutes from being returned. The loudspeaker as a whole was lighter than I expected but the build quality was top notch and certainly in-line with reality.

The binders were also of a high quality and the packaging is EXACTLY as it should be with every speaker sold to the public. Heavy gauge cardboard, 100% corner protection per speaker via some blended foam inserts and nice cotton bags to further protect the finish.

It was probably just a fate excuse to upgrade anyways, since the 11L2/12L2 Active isn't even available in Rosewood or Cherry....AND the last shipment into the US included nothing but 12L2's in Piano Gloss. I could have waited but I rarely pass up a deal, so a pair of Quad 12L2 Active are on the way, to ease my heartbreak and devastation.

100% overkill for near-field at my computer but who said this hobby had rules or made sense anyways. Big props to Walter @ Underwood for actually calling me a dumb-ass when I rang to tell him what had happened. I love an honest man and he couldn't have been more right. He also accomodated me fairly and didn't sweat the small stuff. An EXCELLENT experience and we had more in common than either of us realized in this "Who is Who" audio world. Cool baby, cool.

    Sweet, man, SWEET.

I actually saw some of the Quad dynamic speakers for the first time yesterday (nobody had the ESL's curiously) and they do look amazing. Fit and finish on them is first class (ahem Polk).

Quit dicking around and just put thos Tympanis on your desk already.

Bass filter - cut / flat. That's a cool idea for those without the option to add in some kind of low pass filter so that you can still feed them a full signal without driving it too hard, if your rig can benefit from that (unlikely as computer speakers though). Purdy too!
