Nikko Alpha VI amp update.

Well, I must say that I'm really enjoying this amp. It's sound is very smooth, romantic, & just down right enticing. But oh let's not forget that it's got plenty of gitty up when called on.

So far my Krell has remained on the sidelines, but that's not to say that it's taking a back seat. I really enjoy them both, with their distinct musical personalities.

The Nikko has a larger soundstage that draws you in, whereas the Krell has the edge on imaging (close though). They both have plenty of balls but I think the Krell has the edge here (ever so slight though). Maybe I can just keep on enjoying them both. But the Nikko just trounces the Krell in the eye candy department. It's a work of art that you don'r see too often today. You ought to see them with their tops off...the Nikko is stunning with all that Luxman design work. The Krell looks almost bare bones, I'm guessing with newer technology the parts shrunk a bit.

I know, you want pics...I'm working on it. I'm just not too savy at that stuff.

Is there enough difference that you would welcome a blind ABX?

I can tell the difference between a great amp and my best receivers amps, but I don't know that I could pick between the top level amps that have graced my system, the differences aren't as easily defined.

Well, I did a non-scientific comparison with another audio bud of mine. I had it set up that it was a simple switch to swap out the amps. We did extensive listening to the same cuts on all CD's & there was a musical difference as I stated in my previous thread.

Now, if the same results would be found in a perfect A/B test...my guess is as good as yours. But what we definetely heard were not to be denied.
