Default Yeah... it actually happened to me

So... some may know. Some may not. But I came out of a divorce about nine months ago. Everything's amicable. Blah, blah, blah. Considering her occupation as a lawyer, I consider this a blessing.

That being said - I was perusing Audiogon and happened across none other than my rig. Outrageously priced and misrepresented, they were sitting at the 30 day mark surprisingly enough. It was kinda on me for dragging my feet on picking everything up, but Louisville to Atlanta in a Dodge Neon is not the best option for a pair of Tylers.

Really... you hear about this sort of thing happening, but not to you. At the very least, she could have given someone a smoking deal. Oh well - just felt like venting.

So you had the option to get your rig, but its just too far away to do so ? If that option is still avail , have someone from here that is local to her pick it up for you and keep it until you can go get it. Let em keep a couple of items for their trouble and everybody is happy except your ex old lady :)

Sorry to hear that, Jason. But, hey, isn't it an opportunity to start new setup fresh and do what you want to do that you couldn't do before?
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I appreciate the offer, but I'm really not that upset. I'm actually looking forward to starting from scratch with a little bit of audio wisdom under my belt.

edit: Polkatese nailed it before I had a chance to save my post.

Dang. Shoulda said something. Would have driven to Kentucky, picked up your stuff, tossed it in the back of my truck, done or said something totally ignorant or crass to piss off the ex-missus and then hightailed it to Hotlanta just to save the gear. Considering the circumstances, probably coulda dragged amulford with me for extra insurance in ticking off the women folk!

Hell, drove to upstate New York, like almost to Can-a-duh, to get a pair of Amazings and drove to freakin' Norfolk to get SDA's and those were both "day trips" 'cause I did it all in one day! Would have had to make a weekend out of yours though. The Lightning is fast but not THAT fast. I'd have to waste too much time refilling the 25 gallon tank at every gas station to average only 120 MPH provided I did not attract the attention of the local constabulary who would then probably take me to jail. That'd be bad. I'm highly allergic to jail.

Hah!!! I really dig the scenario Jstas. Bill... I actually live in Powder Springs. You wouldn't be familiar with the area, would you?

EB - I really appreciate that, but the system is still lurking in Louisville.

I thought so, but I couldn't remember for sure. I agree with Brad, go get that stuff! If your back seat folds down, there is no reason you can't get those speakers in the trunk safely.

Yeah, you might want to build a new system from scratch, but it would be nice to have the money from selling your old gear. If the system was supposed to be yours in the divorce settlement, don't let her do anything with it.

And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - I need this. The paddle game, and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. And this. And that's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair.

As a matter of fact, it was pretty much assumed between the two of us that I would be walking away with the rig. But time goes by and this happens. I find it more of a "curiosity" than an inconvenience. The old "ex-wife put the stereo/Harley/lemur up for sale" bit.

I think ya pretty much nailed it on the head Doro. I love paddle games... and magazines. I also managed to walk away with a couple of amputee midgets and Bulgarian carnies that we were keeping in the "garden".

Jason, I'm only a few(long) minutes away; I can go get your stuff, and while I am at it put some shrimp inside all the curtain rails. She'll love it.

Considering the fact that she's a vegetarian, that would be doubly nice. Maybe we could throw some prawns into the mix.

Thanks Ricardo... that's a very kind offer. We'll see what else I may be able to work out.

Hey! Bulgarian carnies! How do you like them? I just LOVE mine! Dunno how I ever got by without them. Except their stupid goat gets on my nerves. ESPECIALLY when it craps on the Welcome mat and I end up stepping in it in the morning.

My neighbors think I'm nuts and mean hopping around the front lawn on one leg trying to kick a goat with a shoe cover in crap. Stupid goat.

I got you. The situation is amusing you and you don't have any real desire to get the gear back. Sounds like you're in the right frame of mind considering the circumstances.

Practically speaking, go get your damn gear, foo.

Practically speaking? You forget who you're talking to. I don't think I've made a practical decision in my entire life. Why else do you think I'm into this hobby?

Like this weekend! After a month on Audiogon, she might get frustrated and just sell it on Craigslist for chump change. Just curious, can you link her Audiogon ad? I'd like to get an idea of how our significant others would market our gear if given the chance.

Sorry to hear that, been there done that numerous times. Was married 3 times and faired ok on those but then lived with a gal for 9 years. I thought it was forever and did a stupid thing like put her name on the deed to the house and the title to my new truck. Things got ugly and when she left she literally took everything including the animals, the door knobs, not only the curtains but the curtain rods AND the new truck. If that wasn't bad enough then she sued me for equity in the home I had paid for totally. After a long costly battle it cost me near $100k. But I have the house still to this day. Lessons learned the hard way.

Sometimes it is better just to walk.

That bein' said, I'd go get it. She probably did well enough, I doubt she needs to sell your rig.

That totally sucks ZB. This marriage thing is a crap shoot: the gal says she'll stay with you till the end, then later says "It's not working out," and gets most of your stuff. That is not fair.

The ad has already run its course. But "original owner" was mentioned, which is false. I think my brother may step up and snag everything when he gets a chance (and a U-Haul).
