    Default Internet radio

    I think this is awesome!

I'm listening to WDVE 102.5 FM in Morgantown WV. A favorite from my growing up days. I'm in CO so there is no way to do this over the air waves. Its just so cool to listen over the internet! Eff FM tuners...

Why not pandora? No commercials or dopey dj's, someday I will get a laptop just so I can listen to pandora on the job site.

I listen to a couple of different stations when I'm playing boss.

This is one of my favorites. No commercials, and a lot of album cuts that don't get a lot of airplay.

One of the nation's first alternative rock stations, 99x, in Atlanta, has gone internet only. Talk about "losing a first love" when cruising around the ATL.... :(

I love pandora!!! Its just cool to listen to a station somewhere you used to live. When they talk about things going on locally it is really cool. The music, other than actual pick of the songs is not the point.

I don't care for alternative stations. Oops, that didn't come out right. I hate the I'm dying, the planet is dying, I want to kill myself, I don't know why everyone hates me type of songs they play.

Gotcha, I never really moved from the general area I grew up so I can't really relate but it makes sense that you would miss the simple stuff like your favorite deli or radio station or whatever.

I listen a lot to their 70's pop station. No commercials, no talking. Just music. They also have several other options.

So here's a question to all you tech gurus. What's the best way to have internet radio feed to my 2 channel rig? Without having a dedicated computer for this purpose? I'm sure there must be some gadget that can get the stream from my wireless connection, and have an output that I could connect to my preamp (analog) or to a DAC (digital).

This looks like an option. Connects to your wireless router, and feeds your stereo with RCA's. Anyone has heard of this one?

Just hooked up a Western Digital TV Live Plus, paid $120.

This thing is small in size, just hookup an ethernet connection and and/or your favorite USB device such as a hard drive for storage, ipod, zune, ect.

It outputs hdmi video and audio, analogue audio and video, and most importantly for me.....digital audio via toslink.
I have it linked optical to my pre/pro and sounds great.

This thing streams all kinds of internet feeds.....Pandora, internet radio, ect, ect. Also handles Netflix video via internet. Works with file shares on your local lan. Plays video and audio flawlessly. I just can't say enough about the unit and think it is a bargain.

    Here's a link: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=832

Edit Wireless:To make the unit purely wireless you will need to put a wireless access point along side it, if not close to your router. I have just run a cat5 cable to it and plugged the unit directly on the lan.
