Default Kudos to the Celtics: 2008 NBA Champs

Now I see how they stopped the Rockets 22 game win streak :(

The Lakers looked terrible tonight. Boston out-hustled them. To be cliche, Boston wanted it more. Oh, and Ray Allen still has a sweet stroke.

Kevin Garnett's post-game on court interview had to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen in sports.

Hmm...my wife looked at me and asked "where is he from, I thought he could speak English?".

I suppose I just appreciated the unchecked emotion. It truly seemed joyous. And I'm not even a Boston fan - just a lowly Hawks fan.

Being from Minnesota, home of the worst run NBA franchise (Timberwolves), I say "You're welcome" Boston..

you actually know how to build a winning team around Kevin Garnett

And that's why I'm happy for him. I've always been a Garnett fan, and I think he has always been unfairly ridiculed. Seriously... that point where he couldn't even speak while that guy put his arms around him was pretty special.

I agree..I don't really care for the NBA much, but I always liked Garnett. He seemed to give 100% EVERY game and wasn't a complete jacka$$ like a lot of these superstar athletes.

Disagree, people can't seem to separate their hatred for Kobe's antics off the court from his talent on it. I don't like him, but he is still the most talented player in the NBA today. Randy Moss is a prick and has always been me, me, me, but he's a hell of a WR.

Kobe was the only player on the Lakers that did **** the entire series. Leaders take it in their hands and he got no help. Where the hell was Gasol the entire series?

That said, I'm very happy for Ray Allen.

Honestly, there's been more than a fair share of reports from courtside concerning Kobe's treatment of his teammates during the series. In a few instances, they would simply turn away from him and ignore him. How does that qualify as a "leader"? It's all about hearts and minds, and it seems he has failed to gather either. And no... buying everyone watches does not count. Didn't he do the same sort of thing for his wife?

btw I'm happy for Ray Allen as well. What a stroke...

Kobe has proved once and for all he's not in the same league as Jordan. No way Jordan would have lost that game and Jordan would have found a way to elevate his team mates around him.

Boston has a great team, great defense and was the better team. The Laker's rolled over.

Kobe certainly has a lot of talent but I think we can once and for all stop saying he's the second coming of Jordan. The Laker's have a lot of issues to address before next season. It wasn't all Kobe's fault but I never felt he took the team on his shoulders during the finals, except perhaps in game 4.

So you think he's a jerk. I don't disagree, but you still didn't answer the question...where were the Lakers besides Kobe? When the series started it was pre-game segments about what a great leader Kobe was (the words of his teammates) all season and in the post-season. They were glowing. Now that the Lakers lose the series Kobe is a prick again and the reason they lost. It's kind of laughable.

Possibly a lack of inspiration from their leader. I do know you would never see Kerr, Cartwright, etc. walking away from Jordan while he was "dispensing advise" on court. They gathered around him. That simply wasn't the theme of this series.

It's easy to dump on Kobe because he is the "star" of the team and he walks the walk. They came up woefully short and Kobe has to take much of the blame much as he takes the credit when they win. That's what happens when you are a high profile leader of a team like the Lakers. It wasn't all his fault, but I really saw very little emotion in him (positive or negative). IMO, based on watching the series he seemed to give up a little bit.

Kobe's talented, perhaps the most talented in the NBA currently but one singular talent isn't going to get it done. As I said before the Laker's have a lot to address in the off season not just Kobe and his attitude.

lowly? not any more! the Hawks have a very promising team.
tons of talent, with a real franchise player: Josh Smith, is just amazing to watch.
they forced a 7 games series on Boston, something that neither LA nor Detroit were able to do.

Please tell me there's a vid out there of Jack throwing another temper tantrum:D
I'm pissed that I forgot to watch the game. By 39 points, I'd say the Lakers rolled over.
I hope somebody get's to go the banner raising next fall, cuz I know it won't be me:(

The Celtics can partially thank the retard Clay Bennet for their Championship. With him unloading all our best players so the Sonics would suck and lose its fan base Boston benefited greatly from this. No Clay Bennet = Ray Allen never going to the Celtics.

Glad he got a ring somewhere!
