The long-awaited album from the rock band Guns N' Roses has been partially leaked by an American blogger.

New Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy leaked
It's not 1991 anymore - Axl Rose, left, ditches the cycling shorts

Nine 'mastered, finished' tracks from Chinese Democracy, the album that Axl Rose has been working on for the past 14 years, were posted on a little-known rock website, www.Antiquiet.com.

The infamous album is reported to have cost in excess of $13million (£6.5million) to produce but its release is said to have been held up by discussions between Rose and the band’s record label Geffen Records, over rights.

A poster calling themselves Skwerl made the nine songs available on Wednesday, without revealing their source, but the tracks were removed hours later.

The poster wrote: "I always said that the more that Axl and Geffen jerked around trying to figure out how to release this finally finished album that we’ve all been waiting over 13 years for, the greater the chances would be that it would slip out of a pressing plant or office somewhere and wind up in the hands of some ******* with a blog. So…"

Despite the hasty removal of the songs, reportedly after a call from the band’s lawyers, they soon spread throughout the internet, appearing on filesharing sites as well as YouTube.

Once released, the album will be the first original recording from Guns N' Roses since the 1991 releases of Use Your Illusion.

It is rumoured that a Guns N’ Roses reality TV show is set to be broadcast to coincide with the official release of the album.

In reference to the lengthy wait for the album, the California pop-punk band The Offspring announced in 2003 that their next album would be entitled Chinese Democrazy (You Snooze, You Lose).

How did you think it sounded?

Dr. Pepper is supposedly going to give everyone in America a free DP if they release the album this year.

Have only listened a couple times. It certainly will never ever live up to the hype. There are some slower songs on it. The song "Chinese Democracy" is the best song on it.

I'd give it a weak 3 out of 5. I was never a huge GnR fan even though "Appetite" was a great album for it's time.

i was a huge GnR fan...but without Slash and co., they will never be the same, IMO.

funny thing is, if all of them ever put aside their child-like squabbles, they would sell out everywhere and make millions

but I doubt that will ever happen.

Uhh... I sure hope they didn't phrase it like that.... DP means something different in some circles....
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Never liked GnR so this will be a no brainer for me not to listen to it. Axl was always my least favorite singer of any rock band and had a s**t voice to boot. No talent having ass clown...

Who is giving the DP? Dr. Pepper & Mr. Pibb?

Oh, and that's not Guns 'N Roses, they died a long, long time ago.

That they did but as you probably know Axl has the rights to the name. Really with all the hype over the past 7 years it really is nothing special. I only DL'd out of curiosity and while I admit beyond "Appetite" I never cared for GnR and it's primarily because of Axl and his attitude.

Slash is far more tolerable dude and has shown a lot of respect for the music industry and his influences and while he is a talented axeman never comes off as a pompous ass or with the attitude the "world" somehow owes him something.

When Cheap Trick put on their 25th anniversary show here in town, Slash was one of Rick's guests and flew all the way from Italy (IIRC) to attend the show. I guess they are pretty good friends. Slash has very good things to say about CT's influence on him as an artist. Axl isn't classy enough to ever admit stuff like that.

I used to think Slash was a rip-off of Jimmy Page and while alot of his stage mannerisms are linked to Page's early stage moves, Slash practically gushes about Page and how he incorporates much of Page's style into his playing. It's that kind of respect for your influences that make me have a lot more respect for Slash than Axl. Axl expects and thinks he's god's gift to music.

    Anyways.............long rant over

I'll never go to another KISS farewell tour (went to about 4 of them :o ) concert.

And I'll never buy (or get it for free from H9 ) another GnR album ...... as said previously the real GnR is long gone!

Axl Rose is a little BITCH! Period. I'd pay to see someone hand him his ass.
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
