    Default Monitor rebuild

I noticed that there are full schematics for the SDA series stickied (Thanks!), but does anyone have them for the rest of the vintage monitor line? It is pretty simple compared to the SDA, but I was looking for a rebuild/guide and I haven't been able to find it. Is there a guide, should I do one as I go?

So, here is what I have planned: Rebuild my pair of Monitor 7's and 10's, replacing the s2k's with RDO's and rebuild the crossovers to factory spec.

The lead jockey in me wants a wiring diagram and a second opinion.

After that, I move on to rebuild my 1C's, which has been very well documented and discussed on these forums.

While I have slightly enjoyed the acrimony over capacitor brands that this sort of post has generated in the past, I am really more interested in factory vs non-factory uF suggestions and notes about snags that others have had.

did you look under troublshooting? I believe that the monitor series are posted there as well as many others. From my experience,if I planned on keeping them,I always used sonicaps and mills resistors. Good luck and have fun.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

I just finished rebuilding my Polk Montior 10Bs... I can tell you one thing. When replacing the caps in the crossover, go directly with Sonicaps. I tried cheaper caps and the Sonicaps was far superior. The improvement in sound quality was not small.

You are gonna need 4 12-uf @ $19.60 each and 4 17-uf @ $24.10 each (to replace the two 34-uf caps) on the 10B. You can buy them here.

The schematics for the Monitor series can be found here. Note that there are different Model 10s. Look at your crossover board to determine the one you have.

    Good luck and enjoy!!!

I've had good results with Dayton and Sonic Caps.

Dayton will give a little more high end sparkle, Sonic Caps are a little more balanced.

Stay away from Solen caps, they're harsh up top and aren't tonally correct IMO.
