Default Is your freetime consumed by the pursuit of Aural pleasure?

It occurred to me today that when I was younger, I had many more hobbies and activities. I played soccer and tennis. I was an avid art student who always had a project entered in some competition. I was a major gamer and had a Bose sound system dedicated to HT, which I LOVED LOVED LOVED (by the way).

    Now, I am a committed weight lifter but that's about it . . .

Well not quite. Like many of you I'm sure, I live eat and breathe 2 Channel. I was going to say audio, but that's not even accurate. 2 Channel, period. I spend hours a day listening. When I'm not listening, I'm reading about 2 channel.

Has anyone else experienced this? I thought I would play videogames forever, now I almost never do. I'm just glad I didn't give that hobby up for work.

Is being an audiophile a 12 step program? If so, what step am I at and where am I going?

    Mike

My shrink told me to get a hobby. This $hit is way more expensive than the shrink, but sweet tunes are better therapy than a shrink. Have tunes, no shrink:D
    Rock on!!!

    You're at step 8 -- Acceptance

You're going to divorce court, then to a lengthy stay at the poor house if you keep this up, my friend. Spending more time with others is helpful in overcoming this lonely, dark addiction.

Consider yourself lucky, you have a passion that is relatively inexpensive, dosen't take up a lot of room, safe, dosen't require travel and generaly simple.

hhhhmmmm I was thinking just the opposite ;)

I have filled a room with extra stuff not in use...but the price was too good to pass on....think is already getting a bit expensive and thats buyin used....safe I will agree with, except for the ears when tunes are cranked...have traveled to other states for local pickup.. and WOW not simple at all to a simple mind like mine...the more I dive into it the less simple it seems :D
but I have learned TONS of info I didnt have a clue about...alot of it learned right here...still have so much more to learn....

I had to build a seperate 1 car garage for my 5 bicycles and my gf 7 bicycles, plus the 4 acres for my mini bmx track and dirt jumps, not to mention the front end loader and all the other crap, and thank god I got myself away from the boats before the gas prices skyrocketed and snowboarding, that leads to a bunch of skipping work and travel, racing mx ohh theres a good one, two bikes a year, tires, chain and sprockets, entry fees, travel....

Nah truuust me, you guys got it easy, I would love to have it as simple as being content to just chill out with the stereo.

You're not even to step 1. ADMITTING you have a problem. You're waffling about taking recovery seriously.
I'm with Chuck. I'd recommend Karma-ing off all your stuff, and try to go cold turkey for 90 days. Then 91,92,93,..etc.
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
