I researched for a month or more for my PSU, after all is said and done, looking back, I would have just picked a generally well reviewed unit, with decent wattage and efficiency and just gotten it. Instead I spent way too much time with the technical specs. You know, things such as how much millivolt ripple on Rail A at 80% load on this PSU vs that PSU, etc. etc.

Oh yeah, another feature to look for for some people is how loud it is.
Can't beat a good deal on a decent power supply.

The only problem I've foudn with some reviews and what made it so difficult to make an informed decision, is that there are so many review sites, and they don't all review all the PSUs, some of the reviews are a few years old, yet the PSU is still an active product, but since th ereview is so old, and may be the greatest PSU since sliced bread, and as such could have recieved very high ratings, yet since then many more could have come out and been reviewed and now be much better. What I haven't been able to find is a good single comprehensive source with all the recent and latest PSUs with ratings along with relative comparisons of desireablility. Now that would be nice. I've seen something close to that with some CPU coolers.

I think the reason you won't fine a lot of PSU reviews is that most people don't look to hard at power supplies. They pick a brand and look for a certain wattage, that’s it. I have to admit I didn't look too hard at PSU's because I knew this was a decent PSU for a very good price and if I went looking I would inevitably end up spending more money then my budget would allow.

Power supplies are often overlooked and they are really one of the most important parts of a system. Somebody gets a power supply that will operate at full capacity or with a noisy output can cause a lot of computer problems such as random reboots, lockups, etc. PC Power supplies need headroom too. I would venture to guess that a lot of lockup issues that can't be attributed to an actual cause-are quite possibly related to power supply issues.
Only audio analogy I can think of right now is how important the amp stage of a system is--underpowering your speakers can cause clipping and speaker damage-not to mention the lack of imagaing, resolution--blah blah, etc..
