Default HT snobs: Do you have a THX certified door ?

Apparently for 2,500$ you can get one.

Of course; that's the first thing I got, together with the special Cardas light bulbs and Monster upholstery treatment.

While the price is incredibly high, having a good, soundproof door is nothing to laugh at. Your typical, hollow core, interior home door is about worthless in a good theatre environment, or even 2ch environment. They buzz and rattle, and do nothing to keep the sound from getting out. I would love to be able to afford to sheet an entire room in QuietRock and put a half-decent door on it (not a $2500 door, mind you). I bet it would make a big difference. Not so much in what I'd hear, but what I wouldn't... and what the neighbors wouldn't. Then again, I'd need soundproof windows, too.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Quiet Solutions THX certified drywall is 1 3/8" thick! If I had the money to hang that stuff, my room would become noticibly smaller!

Without a doubt, Proper acoustic treatment can make a world of difference, particularly in the lower range, and with imaging.

THX certification is fast becoming ridiculous though. some say it always has been.

I like the THX certified armpit bass traps! I'd say you should start selling them, but Monster will just sue you for copy-right infringement on something you invented anyway, so I doubt it's worth the time or money.

My door is broken...I kicked through it about a month ago when i locked my keys in there. Now, since it's split in the middle, even if i lock it you can just lean against it and go through. Maybe I should get one of these double door things.

I've always considered THX certification a joke, you can do better for less.

Ron loves a film = don't even rent.
