Polk MOMO MM2124 vs. MM2124DVC

I am currently trying to decide what subwoofer to purchase, and I definitely like the reviews and specs on the Polk/MOMO Series MM2124 12" subwoofers. However, I am not sure which one to get, the single voice coil, or the dual voice coil version.

What are the advantages of single versus dual voice coils?
Which one will last longer?
What would be the difference in the amplifier I would have to get?
Which one "hits harder," if there's a difference?

The music genres I listen to are mainly Techno/trance, and some rock/metal.
