Default A great day at work until that phone call

John your house was struck by lighting the FD and Excel are there....

well needless to say we made it home in record time.....knowing all was plugged into the newest member of my low-mid fi system...the APC H15....knew the Parasound was unplugged as it was just moved, got to the house FD was just leaving....pole on the house where service comes in was hit...fried the AC unit on the ground directly below....fried the 1940's style breaker box in the basement......the APC not only did its job but also came back on after all was rewired......and all works aok.....i think my dogs are still hiding somewhere in a closet ,must have been one big boom for them...Excel guy said being such a older box might have saved the house as it blew instantly off the wall preventing any damaging current from going further....so maybe the APC did nothing...who knows ..as long as i think i am protected :) new AC installed today...new breaker box with 50 amps more installed last night.....had them set-up a dedicated 30 amp line to my system for a lil cash on the side ;)

Wow; that was a lucky day...considering the possible outcome.

Good to hear the gear was not damaged.

Sounds like a shocking experience bro...But hey, what are the odds of that ever happening again? You's should be all safe & good for a long time now and you got a dedicated line as an extra plus. ;)

Take care my friend. I'm glad you folks are all OK and it wasn't worse.

Actually, the odds are identical to what they were before. Sort of like that 100 year flood thing.

Glad everything worked out for you! That would really suck to lose gear, much less your home.

I'm glad it all worked out, and you can out of it with a 30A line! It's a win-win, kind of...
