I have a pair of Monitor 10's and 7's. Both have the popular Peerless tweeters. I thought they sounded awesome when I first got them, but after being into the hobby for a while and hearing a bunch of different speakers in my room, I have to say the Peerless (at least mine) are no where near as smooth as people make them out to be. I wonder if upgrading the caps will fix the problem, or if it is just the tweeters? IMO they sound like they are crossed over too low. Vocals lack richness and are grainy compared to my Kef's, B&W's and Dyanco's. But the Polks embarass those speakers in bass response and punch....So I'm debating on whether to invest in upgrading the Polk's or just getting something else. Do the RDO replacement tweeters sound smoother than the Peerless? I have the say compared to some good British tweets, the Polk's sound like sandpaper to my ears.
Also, does anyone know the crossover points for the different tweeters used the Monitor series?
